2023 NBA Draft Megathread

As a matter of practical concern, the Jazz are going to need a solid guard to be a lead ball handler. Conley's days are numbered one way or another, and the Jazz don't have anyone else who can really run a team. A guy like Cason Wallace could be high-value in the late lottery or mid-1st round. Nick Smith and Keyonte George (who might be able to play PG in a Jamal Murray kinda way) are probably top-10 guys. Another guy to keep an eye on is Terquavion Smith, who's been playing well.

Bigger guards like Ausar Thompson and Gradey Dick have some on-ball upside, but probably aren't full time lead ball handlers. Anthony Black hasn't really shown up this season yet.

I agree, if they are not going to develop Sexton in that regard, he should be traded at the deadline unless he can't be or something, and they should be looking to fill the role via trade and draft.
I would have just given Bull the keys, regardless of the growing pains, had the season not been going so great. But now that the season has gone well, and the Vets values are up, they have to decide if they are willing to sell high and go all in on blatant tanking, or just keep it status quo and maybe even become buyers

I don't think Sexton is really a high-level point guard. He's a score-first guard who likes to drive to the rim. He's not a guy who makes reads and quick decisions.

Although that makes sense to most people. Clearly you think I am dumb for being stubborn about it.
It is absolutely true imo, that no player no matter how good they are on paper, or how much they entertain you, are deserving of being considered supermax level, have their own commercial ,superstars if they have not carried their team to a championship.
Example is similar to NFL QB's : Mahomes is a superstar and Allen is just a really good qb that hasn't done **** yet.LOL
If you cannot win on the biggest level you are not a superstar, you just a allstar that lost.
Dont speak that bad about Don, it's not nice ;)

i was impressed with cason wallace last night. heady player, incredible defensive instincts and effort, can do a bit of everything offensively and has nice shooting stroke. and brandon miller continues to impress of course - he can do it all though i'd like to see him be more efficient with his shooting. filipowski is an underrated prospect as well.

Looking at draft boards and such... I think Dick could be had outside the lotto... maybe not but getting Dick with the Minny or Philly pick would make me happy.

I think he is going to be firmly in the lotto. I expect between 10-14, maybe higher. He's going to have elite shooting numbers and good athletic testing while being one of the youngest players in the draft.

*Actually it looks like Dick is 18, not 17*

I swear when I looked last time on Wiki it said he was 17, but I guess that was wrong and got corrected.

I could see his wing span coming in short or him performing poorly in a one-on-one setting. Or just that most outlets have him starting out in the late first or second round in some cases. It can anchor some guys to a range sometimes.

I think he's worth late lotto... at least right now.
