2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Didnt hand him anything
if he didn't it's better for him for sure, but he still was accused of not only handing the gun to the shooter by the shooter, but bringing it to the shooter from a separate location, regardless of what his defense is claiming.
A young woman is dead. His teammate killed her. Doesn't matter if he handed him the gun either, he was there.
That in itself was poor judgement in the mind of anyone, who is about to invest millions of dollars on one person.
Until there are no more obvious similar upside prospects on the board, it will be difficult for any GM to talk the owner of any org, into taking the risk on him over someone else . Especially with no off court issues front and center.
If it comes out later he did block the exit with his car, he is guilty of something for sure.

agreed about ausar. if some of the draft honks are right, you may be able to get the same player (or better) in Ausar 7 or 8 spots lower than amen. simply a better value. not sure there is a great argument amen is really even better than ausar at all, let alone several spots higher.

scoring is about even, assists are about even, rebounding advantage goes to ausar, three point shooting goes to ausar (ausar takes more and has a better percentage) and i think he's a better defender. amen has a significantly better FG%. in terms of size and athleticism they are clones. they are about as even as you can get - so if you can get one of them 8 spots lower, the value is just so much better.
All of this.

The look back In 5 years could be wild.

both are top 10 locks imo. but yeah Orlando is most likely to get the twins in for workouts if theior own pick lands in top 4 and the Bulls pick is top 10.
They will probably be separated obviously, but it will only be because someone ignored the Twins desire to remain unseparated to the point they won't probably work out for anyone besides teams with 2 top 10 picks.
The only other team besides ORL that may have that is us.
I see Amen as the better floor prospect, but the upsides are the same

As his lawyer stated, he has been fully cooperative with the investigation and has allowed his car, phone, and dashcam to be used for evidence. It's been a month and he hasn't been charged with anything.

There are some interesting wings that should be available outside of the lottery as well: Rayan Rupert, Brice Sensabaugh, Kris Murray, Dariq Whitehead, Leonard Miller, and Taylor Hendricks

fair point. Hope he is cleared if he is innocent. But some part of me thinks he isn't out of the woods at all. He is not going to self incriminate, and imo is probably either barely cooperating, but not talking at the same time, or has a snitch card and will be looking over his shoulder the rest of his life

I think DA is either a little bit of a contrarian or he likes to deceive. Him stating he actually likes the 2024 draft more than 23… while holding three picks in 2023 and owing a pick in 2024 is kinda funny. I just don’t buy much of DAs public comments… some treat them as gospel… the narrative on the 2024 draft will develop over the next 12 months but it sounds like it’s not great. Which may present an opportunity to buy in at a low price if you disagree.
Honestly, I think DA was thinking that 2024 would be the year that high schoolers would be drafted again. That would make it a killer draft. I think it will be in 2025.

Good article that actually goes into depth on Grant Nelson. That might be a guy to target with the Sixers pick. Nelson is probably considered more of a second round prospect but its not hard to see how this guy might have been completely overlooked and might have enormous upside.

@Saint Cy of JFC has mentioned Grant before... haven't really seen much on him in any mock drafts. Bet he gets some buzz in workouts or the combine. A smart team might give him a promise to shut down workouts etc.

I’ve watched a lot of him lately and honestly wouldn’t hurt my feelings to take a flier on him with our last pick.

His skill is undeniable for his size but obviously the competition is so rough you have to squint to see it translate.

He's been putting up some great games since he went viral. Plays tonight.

grant nelson shoots 25% from three. yikes. no thanks. give him a ufa deal and see what he can do in summer league.

I had some thought of that but then you watch him drive and mash on a guy from like outside the charge circle and I'm like "yeah that **** will work basically anywhere".

Like he's doing what he's doing without ever working with high level coaches... Seems like a coach's dream too.

33% prior to the season though... sixers pick is aggressive... but if we made a promise and moved back to the second round or acquired a second rounder it would definitely be worth it. He's the type that becomes a mid first rounder by playing in Portsmouth or at the combine.

Honestly I've been with you the last 3-4 weeks on GG and then beyond the Insta live he kept it going, and then his body language last night was just terrible. The kid has a lot of maturing to do and not just for someone his age. He is dropping quickly for me at this point based on personality alone. Very rough patch for ole boy.

The maturity issues have become a real concern. Two minutes left in the game, and he wandered up near half court because he didn't want to be involved in the play. Giving up on defense on multiple plays in the 2nd half. It's a real problem. Whoever is advising him may have done him a disservice encouraging him to jump up a draft class.

Almost as bad as the 45% TS% in SEC play.
