2023 NBA Draft Megathread

You could argue that Brown was a reach. At minimum it was a spicy pick at #3. If he’s the guy Ainge likes, Ainge will do anything he can to take him.

I feel like TOR, OKC, and ORL are all the types who would be super high on him and all 3 are in between 9 and 16. Just takes one to bite.
I don't think Brown was a huge reach though.. I think it was pretty much Brown or Murray (who I think had a monster workout there).

If he sees Bilal that way... then I could see it I guess. I just don't see him viewing Bilal that way. I doubt there is anyone as high on Bilal as you are though... so that is the real issue here. Follow your heart. I am more in the camp of wanting someone in the 10-15 range to take him hopefully sending someone else down our way that I like better.

that guy is one of the dumbest people ever and will pound his chest at even being slightly right about something. He's a step up from Monty but also a step down because Monty is a parody account in my mind and as a parody... he's hilarious.
He’s just an “influencer” with absolutely garbage takes. If anything, his position here reinforces my distaste for those players.

Didn’t he, like, make a video right after Exum got traded where he was almost crying and vowing that the jazz would live to regret their decision? Yeah, that guy is a stunning basketball mind.

These can go any direction. Gobert got whooped by Steven Adams in workouts, leading to his drop. But he whooped Dieng in the Jazz workout and the rest is history.

I don’t know if it’s good or bad practice to weigh a workout so heavily…but damn I would love to see Bilal and the Twins in the same workout.

And Mitchell killing Hart is said to be a reason why we jumped on him.
Right... as long as its one data point then great... its when its weighed too heavily. I may not be up to date... but the top guys typically haven't gone head to head in workouts recently iirc.

So its more likely player vs. fat assistant coach and a couple chairs type of workouts.

He was right though... they regret the decision... the regret the part where they didn't do it sooner.

I think Bilal would expose them and because they are so untested they won’t do workouts against others.

I’m not even saying that Bilal is NBA ready, more that Thompson’s haven’t ****ing played anybody?

The Thompson twins played in the TBT which has a lot of former pros and older players and they did the European tour thing (pretty sure they played Nikola Durisic's team)

If Bilal was as certain to be there at #16 as Tatum was at #3 I could see him waiting even if he is the guy. Maybe it will feel that way in June, but I think that if there is any doubt that Ainge’s guy won’t be there at 16 he will take them at 9.

The Twins are why I don’t think Bilal is crazy at 9. The twins are consensus top 8 bc they have incredible physical tools and dominated some bad competition.

Bilal? He also dominated some bad competition and has incredible physical tools. Also 18 and not 20.

Bilal just isnt on the Twins level athletically or defensively. He's a very good to great athlete, but the Twins are total package bonkers athletic.

I don't disagree... but there is another option there too... trade back from #9 to where you think you still get your guy. He may not get too cute though.

Those are dangerous though... I am not sure they will get the guys to go 1 on 1 but the Kings famously took Tyreke Evans over Steph in part because Evans destroyed him in a 1 on 1 workout...

I would want to see it though if I was a GM.

Yeah, you have to be careful to take too much from a couple hours.

If I was picking at 2 or 3 though, I would absolutely want to see Amen on the same court as Black and Wallace.

That may be true, opinions will vary, but if the Twins can be seen as firm top 8 picks and much higher (especially Amen) depending on the individual, I don’t think it’s crazy to see Bilal at 9 given his youth and superior length. He should at least be firmly in play at 16.

I should close up shop on this point, but this clown needs to be spotlighted real quick:

Sometimes takes are so bad that you don't get to come back from them. Fortunately, most of the Exum lunatics never came back here either.

Nobody in NBA history got so many chances and especially so much money despite doing so little. Sit the **** down.

I agree just on the basis that I'm not sure there are that many high potential players left at 9, so if you really think Bilal has that kind of potential you should take him. I'd still put him easily a rung below a GG Jackson though.

This is hilarious. Used both of the first two picks on point guards and then took JHS while Bilal is still on the board. These clowns should be embarrassed.
I don't hate getting two PGs, especially when they are both jumbo guards, I just don't like the combo of two PGs with questionable jumpers
