Huh. Well that's stupid and confusing

it's confusing for sure from an individual stats standpoint, but it actually makes a ton of sense from a practical standpoint. I've been calling for the nba to implement it for 6 or 7 years. takes out one of the most boring aspects of the game and doesn't affect the game at all in terms of overall scoring and FT%.

His strength is his platform, not his opinions. All I'm saying. When someone is willing to go such hyperbolic lengths to say Leonard Miller has a chance to be better than Lamar Odom you know they are a pretty bad evaluator.

He's also one of those people who loves to act like he knows what a draft class will be an entire year out, which has always been the most absurd thing any draft person pushes. Yes, we can somewhat accurately predict the top end talent of the draft since quality #1 overall talent rarely materializes unexpectedly in a year, but no one has any way of knowing the overall quality of a draft to say the **** Sam said.

Sounds like he already has a promise in the draft -- withdrawing from the Combine and also informing Wake Forest he's not coming back. FWIW, Jazz like bigs who can shoot and pass.

I just dont see it at all.

I love Miller, but I love him for what he is currently. I like that he's a garbage man who has some open court ability. I have difficulty projecting him to develop much half-court skill or for the jumper to be anything other than an occasional wide open make.

i like nowell and he'll put up numbers if given minutes, but he's never going to be an efficient shooter/scorer and will always be a liability defensively.

You got to watch teh Klintman U20 highlights to get the hype.

He has that Lauri Markkanen thing where he gets to be the man for his country's national games and that could give him a boost over other players as he ages and gets those "star" reps in.

I guess... I'm just not a big believer in the concept of the "next (insert name or scenario)" type of thinking. Many times there isn't another perfect scenario... but its a copy cat league and folks are looking at successful transactions and saying "hey lets do that".

I like the idea/concept of Klintman more than like GG. If they see something at the combine or in workouts they feel good about those are gambles I can support. If they believe in his potential I get it. Probably other guys I personally believe in more but I'm not gonna scout these guys like they do.

I'm not saying he's the next Lauri, but it's just a benefit for drafting internationally for guys who have clear paths to be the best player on their national team.

I would guess a team with multiple picks in the first has promised him. We could make that promise and take him at #28... but I wouldn't promise at #16. I wonder if Indiana or Brooklyn made a promise?

great measurements for Castleton. Exactly what he needed.

He looked good. He's pretty skinny, but his listed weight isnt too bad. He's very fluid and he took a couple of jumpers in the scrimmages that looked promising. Shocked he didnt get invited to the Combine, especially with PJ Hall over him.

taevion kinsey, a guy i seem to be alone in really liking as a second round prospect who can stick in the league, didn't measure great, but decent at 6'5" with shoes and an excellent span at 6'10.5". i was hoping drew peterson would have a longer ws. sir'jabari rice with excellent numbers - big time sleeper in the 2nd round as well.

What's the difference between like 20 and 28 salarywise? Its like $600k per year... and if its a destination that they like for development then why not? Generally speaking promises aren't given in the teens.

The thinking would go like this... we have a destination that has promised us something we like as a plan B. If the mystery leads a team to taking us in the teens then great... we achieved our draft ceiling with no risk of injury or poor performance.

It also may not be us.

Tosan Evbuomwan seems to have been a hot name at the Combine. He didnt really stand out all that much to me, but I looked over some of his stuff after he got the invite.

He played as a face up point center at Princeton, but he has pretty good athleticism that would let him be a 4 at the NBA level. Like a lot of players, if he gets a jumper he's an interesting player.

Anything in the first round should be viewed as pretty good for a prospect like Klintman. Just want to avoid falling into round 2 where money isn't guaranteed (well not always).

I don't think a team would need to promise a pick as high as #16 to keep Klintman in the draft. I could see Brooklyn, who needs size, doing it though.

That's a good point.

But there is little risk in going to the combine to do measurements and testing along with interviews, so safe to say (if the promise is real and not just his camp trying to create a scarcity thing) he got promised by a team that is desirable to be on for a young developing player (which I think Utah would fall under).

I have watched a full game (skimmed) of Klintman and the u20 highlights. If you watched him at Wake, even in one of his good games, there's no way he stands out from a skill perspective. He barely has the ball at all, and it mostly a stretch big who hangs out in the corner/crashes the glass. That's about it. He's fine I suppose, but nothing jaw dropping from a physical standpoint and definitely not from a skill standpoint. He's long and fairly active though, does have an NBA body. When you watch him with Sweden he's playing point forward and clearly doing different stuff....but I still find that footage underwhelming. Again, not exactly the most athletic guy and for the most part is making very basic passes. The appeal is that he's doing this at 6'10, but IMO there ain't a chance in hell he does this at the NBA level. Like he may be more skilled than an average 6'10 guy in the league (still a maybe), but the idea that he's this super skilled guy does not add up to me.

From a production standpoint.....yeah he's definitely no Tari Eason. He has numbers that might be fine if he was playing in the Euroleague but he was playing for Wake Forrest. His U20 numbers were obviously better, but still not anything earth shattering and that competition is terrible. Even if the production was earth shattering I would have to see a lot more to be convinced than that one U20 B tournament. If he were one of the younger players in the draft I might feel a little differently, but he's already 20. I also reject this "man of mystery" nonsense. He spent year at an elite basketball HS in the states and played in the NCAA. Lauri didn't go to HS in the US and he wasn't a man of mystery. The reason why he's still a man of mystery is bc he hasn't done much. There are zero players who come out of the ACC that should be consider a man of mystery lol. Being on the bench of an ACC team is not the same kind of mystery as a dimly lit overseas gym.
