2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I’m completely on board with trading 9, 16, 28, two future 1sts and Ogbaji for #2 to draft Miller. Don’t think that’s quite enough. I’d probably add one more 1st if necessary but I think he’s that good and could be better than Wemby and a Miller-Markannen-Kessler frontcourt would be sick.
 
New Orleans' only true center is Valanciunas, who can't play on the perimeter. See if the Pels take Dereck Lively at #14 now that they have Wembanyama to contend with in their division. Jazz might be able to make a small trade with the Pels to leapfrog Atlanta if the Pels want Lively or another guy they're confident will be available at #16 (e.g., Nick Smith, Dariq Whitehead, Bobi Klintman, etc.)

This is interesting. The twins have fascinated me over the last month and as I’ve watched tape and read up on them I’ve wondered quietly if Ausar isn’t in fact the better player and possibly worthy of a top 2-3 pick then I watch this and feel maybe I’m not crazy. This only makes me want Ausar more than before.

Let me know if you all want me to make a speak Ausar into existence thread but only if you idiots promise not to bring the idiot Churro into this.

I have sort of thought the same but his sub 30% from 3 is concerning to me in a league in which shooting is a must.

Plenty of studs shot under 30% from three and been fine in the nba. I’m not as worried about Ausar’s shooting as I am Amen. I also think that they are so talented they don’t need to be great shooters, just respected enough. Brown comes to mind.

David Locke sure seems to be conditioning his listeners to expect that the Jazz will be deciding between Cason Wallace and Ausar Thompson at #9. He seems to think Ausar will slip a bit, which is possible if the draft follows what I jotted out in my signature. If the Jazz could make a deal with Dallas, they could take both Wallace and Ausar.
 
I'd be OK with Cason, and I agree that he's the most likely prospect we take at #9. I do think the concerns about his potential and ceiling make sense, but that's a trap that's easy to fall for. Many of the great PGs in the NBA today were knocked for not having obvious high end potential.

Within the Jazz's team concept, they need someone to push the ball, defend the point of attack, run the offense and hit open shots. Plus, they'll look for someone who helps establish the culture they want. Unless someone within reach blows them away, Cason makes a lot of sense, especially if they're not planning to keep THT.
 
I can make an argument for taking Cason Wallace at #9 and Bilal Coulibaly at #16 instead of Ausar Thompson at #9. It's a thin argument, but there is one. Bilal is two years younger and is showing better shooting signals with a similar athletic profile.

Brown and Fox each played one year in college and had plenty of room to grow. Ausar is already 20 years old.

Smart still can’t shoot.

If we could end up somehow with Ausar and Wallace this would be a great draft
