2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I definitely wanted Wemby to go to the East. If he reaches his potential, I honestly don't know how you game plan against him.

Walker is big and long enough to bother him a bit. You have to double him and try to keep him out of the lane. Or put someone stronger with a lower center of gravity on him and get into his body. Let him shoot jumpers out on the floor. Same as trying to guard Porzingis or Yao Ming.

OK, just throwing this out there even though I probably shouldn't, but a very small part of me worries that Lauri's season was such a statistical anomaly that he won't be able to get back to that level again.

I think as a Jazz Fan I've been conditioned to believe I can't have nice things.

The Jazz are one of the better NBA franchises in terms of success...

It's not a statistical anomaly. Lauri's always been a good shooter. The pleasant surprise this year was Lauri's athleticism and what he could do as a primary scoring option, things he already started to show in FIBA.

I’m not skeptical of Lauri… midway through the season I thought maybe there was some fools gold but saw too much proof this is who he is.

But the last part is real.

I know David Locke has been promoting Cason Wallace so far, but Kobe Bufkin has some potential to be an elite offensive player, imo. He measured out about the same size as Dante Exum, minus 2 inches in length. I think he's going to be craftier and better at breaking the paint than, say, Anfernee Simons. Some of his rim finishes are Kyrie-esque.

Some of y’all talk like Wemby is a cross of Wilt and Steph Curry and gonna win 10 titles. At his height/size he won’t be as durable or constant as a guy like Lebron. He ain’t slamming the title window shut on 29 other teams.

He won the NBA MIP because it was such an anomaly vs his NBA career.

I completely agree though, if you watch the games it was real, he just got his first real chance to show what he could do at the same time he got a boost a confidence from his Euro play. If I was just looking at numbers I might be actually worried, but it's clear, he's just good.

Sharpe and Scoot might be like the most athletic backcourt ever. I understand some passing on that trade with the whole bird in the hand thing… but if you started off a rebuild and reset the timeline while having Sharpe, Scoot, Kessler, and infinity picks you’d be in great shape for a couple short years of pain and a huge upside.

That's due to increased role and usage, not because he became someone new.

Lebron is great, but certainly not the greatest. I certainly would not put him over Jordan or even Magic. A few others like Kobe are debatable too.

I still think MJ is the goat, but it's pretty much impossible to argue that LeBron isn't one of the two greatest players of all time at this point.

Bufkin is higher on my personal big board than Wallace.
