like 8.5"ishHow wide is your hand though? You can be short with big hands.
I would do it without hesitation. I think he will be a star. Think of what it normally takes to trade for a star. Think of the gobert and donovan trades. 2 first round picks (one of which could end up in the second round) and ochai (basically another first) for a star is extremely cheap. Basically 3 first round picks. Normally to trade for a star you have to give up much much more. And that star is often disgruntled, on a short term contract, extremely expensive (salary wise), and older. If Whitmore somehow dropped to #9 its because there is some kind of unknown red flag. A dude with his profile should be nowhere near #9 in this draft. Not to say I wouldn't be thrilled if we got him there, but there would definitely be a reason that he fell. It will have to be a trade up if he is the level of prospect that he seems to be.
But that is pretty pricey... He would have to become a damn good player to justify that trade.
Yea, if you’re in love with the guy and he is THE target, you’d have to do it. If you are just trading up to increase your options and are picking between a few different guys I’d be less enthused. Oh, to be a fly on Danny Ainge’s wall…It won’t be cheap to move up. It’s usually only cheap to move up in the top ten if the draft is ***. This draft isn’t ***. Cam will go top 5… you’ll likely have to make a strong offer. I’d rather go 1 future pick and Ochai than give two future picks but if you don’t believe that Ochai is a future AS then you get labeled a hater. I could see teams more interested in a young player that is already ready to contribute… since they are trying to improve next year.

Anyone know how this would impact the Jazz draft?
Would Fizdale not be leaking all our draft strategies and intel to the Suns and god knows whoever else?

I normally agree with you Numberica, but this is a TERRIBLE take. People hate Locke because he is a bad play-by-play guy. Having a nasally whining voice that is annoying is very relevant when your job is your voice. Being a hard worker does not make you good at your job. I appreciate the stats, but that is it. Also, he never says the goddamn score EVER. I can drive all the way home from somewhere and never hear the score.People that hate Locke tell on themselves. Sure, he’s a shill and he has cringy takes but does that invalidate everything he does?
I legit think the hate he gets (different from legitimate criticism) is a sapling of this country’s deep-rooted tradition of anti-intellectualism and homophobia/misogyny.
“But he’s not a jock and he sounds like a girl/*code word for gay person because the fun words aren’t acceptable to say anymore*!” Neato.
locke is dumb, but he's about 10x smarter than booner. boone might be a legit retard.
Easy response is you’re not a hater. There are people that will piss on everything he does like it’s undeserving of even being in a urinal. Its not that at all for me... its more when he authoritatively declares things with very little insight or anytime he talks trades or cba stuff that I roll my eyes. He also has some other kinda cheesy cringe at times. Generally I am fine with him. He produces a ton of content and I am amazed at his consistency with that stuff. He's also a grinder so I respect that as well.
To speak to the jock thing... he did have a run where he was shooting a free throw in every arena or something like that... and watching his jumper I was like... oh... he's never played like at all. I think there is a perspective that comes with playing at least recreationally that he lacks a bit.

What the **** is this??? I am as left/progressive as they come and this is just beyond silly to try and force that connection.
I don't know if you have ever met him in real life, but Locke is a HUGE ******* and narcissist. I was behind him in security at the airport and he was screaming and berating the employees because he showed up late and was going to miss his flight. This isn't the first time I have seen him be like this in public.
I also, do not like Bolerjack as a play-by-play because he is either a moron or has some sort of cognitive deterioration happening. How can you be a play-byplay and say (multiple times) 'Jaylen with an "L"' or " He throws it down from 3"
Speaking of anti-intellectualismCool.
I’m simply acknowledging you posted a difference of opinion but I’m not going point by point. Didn’t thumbs down you. I also didn’t get the sense that you’re a hater but if you can’t get past a higher pitched voice to hear anything else I don’t know what to tell you.Speaking of anti-intellectualism

IMO, Randle needs to be the centerpiece of an offense but Cam does not. Cam can play off the ball and cut/shoot spot ups. But Randle is a better passer and Cam has tunnel vision on his drives. His AST/TOV is really bad and you won't find many star players who were so poor in this area. It doesn't just reflect poor passing but a general lack of feel for the game. I'm still a big Whitmore guy, but I think that's a reasonable concern. If it was better, he'd be a number one pick type of guy though. I think being picked 4-6 seems about right for him.I'm not an expert, but I think the biggest knock on Whitmore is that you can see a bit of Julius Randall in him. Super talented and skilled, but a little inflexible in his team game. It is why Randall can be all NBA but the Knicks would move him pretty easily if given the chance. His "connectivity" score is low.
I haven't watched Whitmore enough to confirm that, but from what I have read there is concern by some for that reason.
I think it is a pretty large nit pik.
Shades of: Amen Thompson without the athleticismTo speak to the jock thing... he did have a run where he was shooting a free throw in every arena or something like that... and watching his jumper I was like... oh... he's never played like at all. What about a scenario where we keep #9?

But let's assume Whitmore is gone.
Wemby
Miller
Scoot
Amen
Cam
You doing that? Who would you take? Probably not enough to move up anyway. But an extra pick down the line or something could make it work.
