2023 NBA Draft Megathread

If you are not in love with Bilal as a prospect, I get it, but if you are making up statistics out of thin air you are a very unserious person. You should not have to make up statistics to argue against a player.

How is this for statistics:

Bilal shot 1/15 off the dribble this year and was 1/14 from mid-range this year.

Last post about Wallace, but let's make some wild leaps based on my previous posts.

If Wallace plays PG all year and doesn't get injured he might have averaged 13ppg, 6asg, 3 spg, while shooting 40% from 3 and 50% overall as a Freshman.

He's the sleeper "low potential" guy for me. His path to being a star player in the NBA is doing the thing he was already doing well. If there's a Haliburton/Bane where a guy specifically drops because of low potential and ends up really good it's him IMO.

If Cy, Ferg and KqWIN are all on the same side hyping up a guy I want to be on the farthest ****ing opposite side of that. Talk about the three stooges who get dunked on consistently.

I will see you hype up guys like GG Jackson and JHS while arguing with me why Black being 15 on a big board isn’t a joke.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Having Black at 15 doesnt make anyone trash. Scouting/evaluating is a game of constantly evolving opinions. It isnt a race to be the first one to be right. You act like a child.

Elite athleticism and length opens up more possibilities. It is what it is. Maybe we are wrong, but I think it's inarguable that Bilal possesses tools that few other prospects do.

ANd he's already leveraged those tools to helping his team win high level basketball games.
Ummm they have the same standing reach and vertical basically... if Bilal is elite there then Taylor is what?

Taylor shot the **** out of it for a pf... got a **** ton of dunks (so he's probably pretty functionally athletic). Why can't he learn to do a little stuff off the dribble or grow his game? But for some reason we assume Bilal can?

I always tell you how you have every right to your wrong opinions.

Well, you know how I feel about the mid range lol. Oh wait...you decided I only said that because I couldn't say anything bad about Cam. But really, you cannot be taken seriously as someone who said shooting numbers don't matter, then transition to the guy who cuts everything down to the smallest sample size to find something that supports your opinion, and also be the guy who makes up box scores out of thin air.

Definitely jarring seeing people be so insistent on their opinions when we haven't seen any of these dudes play for a second in the NBA. And so many of these players that people and teams really like will flame out spectacularly.

I know we are getting close, and people are very entrenched in their opinions, but this is plain weird to me. Anyone talking with knowledge about the draft should also be aware of what a crapshoot it is and not be so positive that one player will be better than another, and that liking a certain prospect is so idiotic.

Yeah, the mystery box is part of the appeal. There will (likely) be two even bigger mystery boxes taken ahead of Hendricks and Bilal. Draft is a total crapshoot even for the players who are not mystery boxes.

The more confident people feel about something (and this includes myself) the more I start to question that opinion lol.

If you think Bilal and Taylor are the same level of athlete that's your opinion, but I'm not seeing that at all. Bilal has a different level of explosiveness and speed off the floor while being able to get low in a stance and guard any perimeter player.

Hendricks is very good athlete though, not saying he's a scrub of an athlete. And he can shoot the **** out of it and it's clearly his best skill and the thing that will leverage him a long career.

I don’t see how this is personal. Calling someone a dumbass is.
That’s a very specific definition of when it becomes personal, no? Name calling is name calling what’s the difference between three stooges and dumbass? You are implying, if not outright saying, their takes and opinions are idiotic. And specifically calling people out.

If Anthony Black goes the way of Dyson Daniels and doesn't make it as a lead guard, then he's a defensive 2/3 who can't shoot and comes off the bench. Hence, he's no longer a lottery pick. It's also why he's the biggest risk to bust among the projected top 8 prospects.

If a team wants to hand him the ball and tell him to go play like Jason Kidd, that's his path to being an impact player, but he doesn't have much to fall back on if it doesn't work. No team in the playoffs has a starting point guard who can't create and make shots for himself.

I think they might be really close but different as athletes.
