What's new

2023 NBA Draft Megathread

At some points we got to believe the reports that are coming out.

The messaging has been the Jazz want positional size, length, shooting, defense, and playmaking. We havent heard any messaging that the Jazz want scoring or high upside #1 option types.

I think the Cam fans should prep themselves for Utah passing on him.
Agreed. Im prepared and ok about it.

I was really confident Bilal would not be at #16 when we were discussing that a couple months ago. Now it's a question if he will even be there at #9. What a crazy rise.

Dawkins was the VP of OKC the last couple of years. He said he was happy the new job he took had a pick only 4 spots away from where he put a lot of work in scouting. I would keep an eye on Bilal or Bufkin being a surprise pick there at 8.

Yeah, part of the Bilal fantasy (which I do dream about too) is that the team that drafts him will put him into a mythical Captain America chamber and he comes out like Giannis. He's at the age where it could happen....but that's a dice roll.

@andylarsen says the Jazz are high in Jarace/Black and low on Cam. What happens if he slips to #9? Do we take Bilal, Bufkin, or Cam???
I think the good news is that the jazz have the assets to maneuver around if they need to. If the jazz don't come out of this draft with at least one asset they are really high on then they **** the bed imo. I'm really excited to see what happens, I'm also weary of falling in love with whomever the jazz pick right away, because there's plenty of reason to believe players could be on the move after they've been picked.

59.5% from FT
1/15 off the dribble shots
1/14 from mid-range

He is 6’8 and has a 7’2 wingspan though.
median outcome is andre roberson - dude was a full time starter for three years in the league. that is no joke. elite defender with length and athleticism who you keep around for a while because of his defense, but ultimately you realize playing 4 on 5 on one end of the court just doesn't work great.

if he learns to shoot, he surpasses a guy like Roberson. if he doesn't, he's probably not THAT great defensively and never becomes a three year starter.
