2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Bilal is one of the most impressive rookies so far. Preseason leader in stocks per game (vets included) with 10 steals and 2 blocks in just 3 games.

Maybe even more impressive is he has just 2.3 fouls per game while playing 23 mpg of super aggressive defense.

This dude gonna be a legit menace. Its like he has cheat codes for bullet time.

I was really looking forward to the Jazz drafting him. In the end, his rise in the draft was just too meteoric. Wait til he starts using his physical advantages on the offensive side.

He needs to add weight. Biggest difference on offense for him right now is that he can't take the same bumps he took in France on the way to the basket. He's like 195 lbs? Once he gets physically stronger his offensive game will open up a ton.

Cason Wallace had a pretty nice game last night 13pts, 3reb, 2ast, 3 stl.

So far this preseason he has shown the ability to score at all 3 levels, defend at a high level on the perimeter, and have a high BBIQ. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes, which will allow him to get time in the OKC rotation, but he needs to work on his handle and be more aggressive on offense.

I only caught a few minutes of him from this game, but he showcased everything you hoped he would. Just looks like a really solid player all around.

Would you rather see a rookie be aggressive on offense, but miss a lot of shots, or be more self aware and reserved on offense, but put up good percentages?

For example Jordan Hawkins and Cason Wallace both played about 20 mpg in the preseason. Hawkins put up 12 fga per game, but only shot 31%, Wallace only put up 5.5 fga per game, but had a fg% of 50%.

Personally, I think the former is the better indicator of where a player is right now as long as those minutes are playing with real rotation players. I don't think it matters much if you're chucking up shots with and against against all the third stringers and camp guys. But if a player has a big offensive role in real lineup I think it's a good indication that he's played well enough to earn that in camp. Too few games to worry about make/miss.

I feel like Wallace had a better pre season than Hawkins. I think Hawkins sucked ***. But I didn't watch either player either.

He didn’t make shots… he will make them though… not worried about him. Cason is a pest on defense… he looked scared to do much on offense. I love him and kinda wish we’d picked him.

Black looking good against.....whoever the heck their opponents are. Always love a Scott Machado sighting.
