2023 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread

is anybody upset that Brooks doesn’t want to talk to the press? I can think of few things that make me happier.

Don, Rudy, Quin, and Joe all down 1-3 in the first round, Royce got swept.

I'm not superstitious, but Sports Curses are absolutely real. That team did something that has now made it impossible for any of them to make it out of the first round. What's going on here? The curse of Mike Elliot? The curse of Niang?

We need @infection to break this down in one of his epic posts.

Basically none of these series are going the way I would prefer them to. Not that I care all that much about anything non-Jazz related, but this has been a weird playoffs so far. Maybe I'm the curse.

Man, it really is starting to look like Memphis got way too conservative after getting off to a great start in their rebuild. They clearly have some pretty poor leadership with how cocky they are as a group, probably should’ve brought in some more established vets at some point

It's not about being cocky, it's about being cheap

The griz really miss Steven Adams leadership out there. They also made a big mistake not going hard after Clarkson to bring consistent pop off the bench. They had the expendable assets to make a Clarkson deal but instead chose the Kennard route and cost themselves an actual title shot.

Did you miss Clarkson being injured... They would have been ****ed if they dealt for him. Kennards been great for them

I don't know much about Memphis trading for Clarkson, but Clarkson was injured and held out for a "sprained finger" for forever. Tank move. Plus it's predicated on that sprain somehow being a destiny that would have followed him and happened to him in Memphis, too. The trade deadline was February 9th and he didn't stop playing until later in the month.

Everyone knew that finger was a ticking time bomb lol.

I think the Grizz got too conservative. They really should have been in on Jerami Grant. They seem to be waiting on a big home run and relying on asset accumulation and growth in the meantime. Patience is good but getting too passive and married to "good" when you need to be "great" is a problem. Injuries have sucked but seems like every team is dealing with stuff...

Good news for them is they still have time. Their window is still open.

Yup... but they could get desperate and take a deal just to "do something". I think you have to be a little more aggressive in today's nba as windows get a little tighter unless you have a top 5 guy that is committed to staying for a long time.
