2023 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread

OKC seems like a team that needs to consolidate some assets and get someone to take them over the top. They should probably be the team who makes the leap in to the top 6 next year.

$24.5 million dollars a year that probably gets matched
. . . of course, it might be worth it to lock them in to those last two seasons of that contract.

Plus, there’s always the chance that they just don’t match that contract.
Throwing the bag at Reaves is a full no-brainer for me. Get him or don’t, but you screw the Lakers either way.

But just to be sure we’re all on the same page: the Jazz would pay $24.5 million per year for four years; the Lakers would pay just above the MLE (~$12 mil) for two years but basically the max for the last two years (~$38 million because they have to make up what they didn’t pay in the first two years). Also: the Lakers cannot offer a contract of that size, they can only match a larger offer from a cap space team.

Does the Bulls/Raps outcome have a potential impact on the Minny pick?

Some. Bulls won their season series with the Heat. If the Bulls win on Friday, Miami will be pushed into the lottery with a better regular-season record than the Twolves. So if the Heat and Twolves both lose on Friday, the Heat will have the 14th pick and the Jazz would get the 13th pick.
