2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

Nah. I’d rather keep Mikal Bridges. He has a chance to be a real breakout star moving forward. Especially since it looks like Scoot is probably going 2nd overall. Going to be really interesting to see if trades match they hype in this draft.
Yeah, me too. That would be like trading Lauri for that pick. The chance that any rookie turns out to be as good as Bridges is really slim. He's also on a great contract.

it would be exactly like trading lauri for that pick - and simons too though. simons definitely moves the needle.

Lauri better though. Was bridges an all star and all NBA last year? (I think Lauri was but could be wrong)
Is bridges 7 feet tall? Is bridges the first player to have over 100 dunks and 300 threes in a season? Did bridges win most improved player award? Does bridges play for the jazz? (I'm a homer)

bridges averaged more points, was nearly as efficient and is a better defender. he wasn't an all-star because he didn't start playing his current role until after the all star break. here is the list of people who averaged at least 26 ppg and TS% of 60%+

embiid, doncic, lillard, sga, giannis, tatum, booker, kyrie, zion, mitchell, durant, curry. that's the list- basically a list of the greatest players in the league. and about 3 of them are even in the same stratosphere as bridges as a defender. And Bridges has never missed a game in his career.

when you combine scoring, efficiency, defense and availability, he is pretty much in a class of his own. an all-nba type player considering who he became with brooklyn with an increased role and opportunity.

Does he play for the jazz though?

They didn't dump Porzingus for picks. Boston got picks because they gave up Smart to Memphis for Memphis picks.
Boston got arguably the best player in the trade AND they got 2 first round picks. Washington gave up the top player in the trade and got an efficient player but no picks.

Memphis replaced Dillon Dickhead with Marcus Smart Dickhead. Same player. Different attitude.

I get the trade for 2 teams. But Washington... man... what are they doing?

Washington was lucky to get anything at all. Would you have taken a coveted Point Guard instead of nothing when Hayward left? We would have been happy with a second and a trade exception. The problem was not extending him or trading him then blowing it up. They took the poison months ago.

So Fisher indicated the trade season may be more active between the draft and FA than it has been normally. Just something to watch... with the new cba and now the teams know who they drafted... we could see some stuff before the market opens all the way.

Really curious if we try to add win now players or take on bad salary... or do both.

My guess is bad salary that leans more towards the side of not playing all that much.

But I dont see them taking on long-term bad salary, so it will be limited return for w/e they do.

I've hunted around a bit for contracts and such... I think a few names to watch are the FA names we've mentioned. As far as trades I think the Hawks guys are some to watch. Also I think Celtics may still move Brogdon... even though they moved Smart already. I don't love it but I'd get it.

There isn't like a ton that makes sense to me that are one year deals.

Really think we should hunt for a more "normal" pg. Not sure the FO is as sold on Dunn as some of us are. I like him but TJ keeps saying "he needs to make the team".

So if its a no for Dejounte Murray I think we might be able to pilfer Tyus Jones somewhat on the cheap. We have a 2029 2nd and a 2030 second now... wonder if we could do a three team deal where we loop in NY who would dump Fournier to Washington with 2-3 second round picks, we send a second or two, and we take Tyus into cap space. If he works and Keyonte looks really far away you can re-sign him as a young vet. He's in the same age range as Lauri and can be more of the facilitator type that is getting others shots. Not sure he has Jalen Brunson blow up potential at all... but he could take a leap and you end up with something fairly awesome. We will need to find a good use for like 30M in salary cap space. I'd rather not just rent the space for second round picks but that may be the route we take.

According to Aldridge about Cam: “At the Hoops Summit, Whitmore was not a practice-type player and didn’t look very good during the week. But once he played, he was one of the better players in the game. That’s going to have to change at the NBA level. He’s going to have to exert some effort, some ability and skill level in practice for a head coach to put him in a game. He’s not going to be guaranteed minutes like he probably was at Villanova.”

It appears Cam doesn't like to practice and was barely showing any effort in his workouts.

Was Bridges white? Nah lol jk

He seems like an ***.

I see a Michael Beasley like career for him. He’ll put up good scoring numbers on bad teams throughout his career. But never actually improve a team or help a good team win.
