2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

My faith in our front office is not high at the moment.

Trying to blow their load on Bridges and PG this past offseason was really dumb. Trying to trade for Brandon Ingram this season would've ruined me if it was successful.

What are we doing?
We are trying to get a good price on anyone talented. Don't think it's a bad plan, even if it results in a lot of kicking the tires on guys who might not have worked out great.

Not executing those trades.

In the past few days we've learned the Bulls and Nets basically have the majority of their rosters on the trade block. I can't imagine Jazz could get much for any of their guys considering the bad teams are already saturating the market with talent. Most of the buyers either don't have draft capital and/or up against the apron.

Jazz could deal a few players but I likely expect the return to be mediocre at best.

Yeah, I think Cam Johnson is a lot more appealing to winning teams than Collins and Schröder is more appealing than Sexton.

Plus DFS is still a great piece for a winning team. All Chicago trade market players seem equivalent to ours overall when weighing contract/age but maybe a contender talks themselves into Pat Williams value long-term as a rotation piece on a winning team

Except Nets will ask for too much for their players, which most winning teams simply can't afford. We won't. We will take second rounders for Clarkson or a late/protected first for Sexton/Collins.

Getting any type of first for Sexton/Collins is pure fantasy.

So is getting anything for Clarkson.

Exactly. Nets/Bulls/Blazers all overvalued their players in trade talks. We don't value any of our players except for Lauri/Walker and maybe Key. That's why we would be the one to get the deal done over those teams.

Quick summary for non-subscribers?
Not a subscriber… but the Jazz have made Clarkson Collins and sexton available in trade for the right price… that’s what it will say.

This guy aint my favourite, but hopefully he uses his platform to push for this:

Good rule of thumb: whatever Perkins recommends.... do the opposite.

I mean he's right about Kessler, but you'd literally have to be blind not to see that the Lakers need someone like that. No great insight.

As for Sexton... LOL. Collin would make LeBron retire in about 5 minutes. No GM is stupid enough to trade for him (see what I did there?)

You are missing the point. Perkins is probably one of the least competent talking heads out there, but if he throws those names out and those names are conversed, it matters.

Its simply because the whole talking head media serves Lakers fans more than any other fanbase, and once "names are out there", Pelinka can more easily pull the trigger without getting blasted. You may think getting Sexton is a huge mistake by Pelinka, but acting like Pelinka couldn't make such mistake is naive.
