2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

im sorry i dont watch a lot of kings basketball is hueter better than collins? collins has been pretty good this year so unless im getting picks, or young players with potential why trade. maybe carter?
I don’t believe anyone is suggesting dumping Collins for no returning value anymore.

Can we just do Sexton for Ivey, basically?

Would further kneecap us this year, make us a player for a capspace dump at the deadline, and give us a player that’s three years younger with upcoming RFA rights. I am not worried basically at all about the longterm ramifications of his injury (broken Fibula, meh) and think he has a higher ceiling (but to this point has been a significantly worse player than Sexton, but he appears to have been turning a corner).

Butler is once again demanding a trade and is open to playing anywhere. He definitely doesn’t fit our timeline, but if we could land him and Fox, we’d have a pretty strong team. A core of Lauri, Fox, and Butler could potentially contend for a championship. That said, piling up all these losses likely takes us out of contention, and acquiring them probably doesn’t align with our timeline or justify giving up our assets. Still, it’s fun to speculate!

John Collins + Cavs pick for Devin Carter + Kings pick + 2nd rounder + Whatever. Would the Kings do it?

and what happens if the kings pick lands at 7? do we lose the pick?
Deferred the next year or whatever they agree to. I just want to improve the pick. It could be top 2, top 5 protected. Whatever makes sense. The kings may be reluctant but if they are open to that it could be a good move.

Say in two years it conveys. That is a quality rookie we could bring into the fold at a time we have accumulated talent and trying to win. Just saying. If they Kings want a deal that would be great incentive for us.

Just an idea for 2 teams with disgruntled stars that I could see happen.

The Pelicans get a culture shifter swap out 2 for 1 without dropping Zion for pennies on the dollar. If Butler could whip zion in to shape they would be mean. Also, butler is looking for a 3 or 4 year deal at less than Ingram money. Not bad.

The heat drop an albatross contract in Duncan while getting 2 former all stars that make some sense with Bam.

Both teams will feel like they deserve picks but i don't see either getting too much via the draft due to the caliber of players they are receiving back.

Butler is a weird one because:

1) He definitely is getting traded
2) Heat probably want winning players
3) Teams trading for him won’t want to give up winning players
4) I haven’t heard of any team that is super interested
5) The Heat probably don’t want to F up their long term salary.

I think HOU makes sense, but they’re probably not giving up Reed. TBH, Collins+Sexton is not too bad of a winning combo and it doesn’t change their cap outlook.

I think we make sense as a third team. Other offers I’ve seen online are not great for the Heat.

I think Butler makes a ton of sense to a few teams:

Dallas
Minnesota
Nuggets
Rockets
Memphis

I could see these teams going all in with Butler too:

Golden State
Phoenix
Milwaukee
Philly
LA Clippers
LA Lakers

If no one can make it happen on their own, you know Aigne will help out but if he helps Minny get Butler so help me!!!

Is there ANY circumstances where the Jazz would want Butler? I am racking my brain to think of one. I mean, Ainge LOVES stressed situations... but this feels like we play facilitator at most.
If he got one or more additional all stars at the trade deadline. If that is Zion, Fox and Butler he would spend all his picks to do that. But that is not on the table but I could see Ainge do a big huge swing of spending capital to get a collection of talent.
