When a lottery type of prospect falls to 23 you don’t worry about win now prospects.
You do when you are a team with Giannis with a very small window remaining. Carrington is OK, but he's going to take years to translate with how bad he is at the rim.
There's just no way they draft a guy like him over 4 years vets or just trade the pick

I would definitely take that outcome on draft night.
My favorite of the three moves is getting our pick back though, and also probably the most unlikely.
They probably are trading it for a player.
Looking at the draft board there might be quite a few picks in the 20 up for sale.

Also got the pick back doe... I ate it.
Getting our pick back is a much bigger deal for 2026 than next year. In 2026 it is only top 8 protected and also affects our pick swaps. We are probably more likely to continue to play the middle next year if we don't have that pick obligation.
