2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Could also be Memphis given his dad works for them. Maybe Memphis has intel that there isnt a chance in hell Clingan drops to them.
Memphis makes a lot more sense than the bulls. If his shooting improvement from this year is legit then I like his fit with Morant and Bane.

How high would 10 + Kessler get us? My targets would be 5 with Detroit and 3 with Houston. Do either teams do that deal? Do we do either deal?
Kessler is tough for me because if I knew Hardy was committed to him then there is no way I would do 10 + Kessler to move up. If Hardy is dead set on playing more 5 out then I would consider moving him but I would need Castle to drop to 5 before I would consider 10+Kessler for 5.

If Carter has a promise in the lotto I would guess Chicago or Sacramento... maybe OKC (because they do that kinda thing). The ties to Memphis are obvious but it seems they are actively looking to move up and there is like a 90% chance he'd be on the board anyway... so they may pick him but not sure why they would promise him.

Clingan is not expected to fall past Portland at #7 if slips that far.

Players expected to be off the board before #10 currently include Risacher, Sarr, Clingan, Sheppard, Castle and Salaun. It makes sense that ESPN is reporting the Jazz are looking at Topic, Holland, Knecht, Ja'Kobe, and Cody Williams. Notable omission here would be Buzelis.

I wonder on Topic if the medicals are clean but he's not ready to workout... how much it hurts his stock. It should have zero effect imo... but I think it might hurt him. If Spurs go pg at #4 I think there is a chance he gets to us.

How many teams are looking for a lead guard? If Topic's injury puts him behind Sheppard and Castle, then yeah, he could get to 10...or even keep slipping past that.

Kings are expected to lose Monk in FA. Sacramento could be a landing spot for Carter.
The kings are going to try their best to keep him though and if they draft Carter then I think Monk is gone for sure. If I had to guess they probably go with Ware even if Carter is still on the board because he fills a big need and they don't want to send that message to Monk. If they lose Monk anyways then I could see them going after Dinwiddie or Malik Beasley in free agency to help fill some of that scoring punch void.

We should take him at 10. I think Spurs are the swing spot for who is available. If they take a wing or Castle I can still see them taking Topic still at 8. Portland likely not taking a guard. Charlotte 50/50. It would be fairly wild if he fell to us at 10 and even wilder if we passed.

They are limited by how much they can give him. They don't have full bird rights... just like NY with Hartenstein. So its like 4/72M and I think the can get 90-100M.

I think the Jazz would try to trade up into the 5 - 7 range to secure Sheppard, Topic or Williams. If Topic falls to the Jazz at 10, that would be a no-brainer. However, picks 8 and 9 are reportedly on the market, so anyone could come in and grab a player the Jazz want if the Jazz passively wait at #10. I think the Jazz are going to try to move.

I think he is worth 90-100mil but I'm not sure where he gets that offer from. If the spurs had the capspace I think they would do it but they would have to shave a decent amount of salary with the cap holds for the 4th and 8th pick of this draft. Detroit is a possibility if Langdon isn't a big fan of Ivey and they don't go with Sheppard or Dillingham at 5. The magic make sense as well but they may be more interested in getting Anthony Black into the rotation and going after a shooter like Klay Thompson or swing for the fences on Paul George.

Any team makes sense for Carter. The Bulls definitely make sense for him.

The speculation is the Bulls because they are always the speculation because they are a cheap team that doesnt love to scout so they are known to lock into players more than other teams.

Hardy will be committed to him when he is committed to himself. You cant have Eeyore vibes on the court and expect your coach to play you unlimited minutes.

If we trade up, I think it will be to 3, 4, or 5 and it will be for Shep or Castle. Outside chance of Sarr/Risacher as well. I’ll have to look at the history of trading into 3-5 to determine the cost.

In 2020 the Hawks moved up to 4 using 8/17/35.

I want to keep all the 2025 picks we have as I want as many chances in that draft as possible but I do wonder if you put one of the 2025 picks we own with 29/32 where it could get you. Trade it unprotected so it has maximum value.
