2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

for sure .. from eye test alone
just thinking how ridiculous it would be to figure a shooting potential based on warm up / spot up 3's
once saw Rudy hit smooth-looking warm up 3's
anyway, looking forward to learning more about Edey's workouts
The believable potential with Edey is that he is use to having the ball in his hands and he gets a ton of in-game reps on his FT shot. If he is able to bump that into the 75% range, I would trust a 3pt shot would follow.

Peek has Carter, AJ Johnson, and Dadiet at 10,29, and 32 on her new mock.
Bub Carrington climbed up to #13.

He's rising.

I have the Jazz trading down or grabbing him at #10.

Bub & Keyonte backcourt makes sense. Both are dynamic, can handle the ball, both can shoot it really well. They could grow together too.

@Ferguson_Mellochill what is the vision for Cody Williams? At some point I asked you to give me a game to watch to get me excited about him. I'm watching Colorado vs Washington. I'm still not sure what Cody Williams is. I do not think you will be able to run on-ball offense through him, doesn't seem to have the suddenness, doesn't seem to have elite level athleticism... handle looks OK, but in very limited scenarios. He seems to be good off movement and off screens and various actions. The interesting thing is I saw him finish with both hands, which is a positive. But in the NBA... what is he? Off-ball forward with some ability to attack close-outs? He's also really slim, which is a hindrance on defense and sometimes on offense when he needs to turn the corner on a defender(he just gets stuck).

Think Josh Howard on the Mavericks. But yeah, his body needs 2-3 years of coherent development. He should fill out and play at the 3.

He should bring 3-level scoring, some self-creation and secondary playmaking. His combination of length and ability to finish with touch and angles *could* make him fairly effective as an isolation scorer.

He should guard 1-4 on defense.

He's long and athletic w/ a wide skillset. He's just not assertive. He's young enough to have potential to go in different directions based on development.

Just wondering here if Danny and Zanik have their final draft board ready yet. I’d love to see them be able to move up and snatch Reed Sheppard for us. The kid seems brimming with potential and has already put up historical shooting numbers. I just read a good quote where Rajon Rondo (who couldn’t shoot but knew how to facilitate) summed it up: “Watch how Reed controls the game. … He knows the game. He’s always in the right spot. He’s not the most athletic, he’s not the fastest, but his IQ — he’s able to manipulate the game. Now some people are saying he’s the No. 1 pick in the game. That’s all IQ and the way he shoots the basketball.”

Just out of curiosity, why is Rondo commenting on Reed? Do they have the same agency or something?

I thought he was assertive early in his season from what I saw. Later in his season, he was fighting injuries and his role changed. KJ Simpson and Da Silva pretty much took over and he became more of an afterthought…until maybe the last game of their season

It would be a travesty if we passed up the most offensively gifted player in the draft at 10.

I totally love that draft and agree that it AJ would be a throw away. Let me ask you about two players I like and what your opinion is. I watched highlights of Terrence Shannon for the first time the other day and thought he could be a steal due to his legal stuff. He is older but I don't really care about that because timeframes for being really good are so short. Also, Ryan Dunn's defense is fantastic and I am a defense person first. The question is whether he can get his offense even to a mediocre level.

I'm just not sure he has a "wide skillset" that is practically useful or applicable in the NBA...

What do you think his ceiling is, and who would you liken his ceiling to. I am different from you because if a player is short and one dimensional, then I want no part of them, especially if they are a short combo guard. Just my opinion.

In today’s game, anyone who can shoot off the dribble from 28+ feet is pretty damn attractive, as long as the rest of his game holds up. Sheppard’s shooting stats are eye-popping. Then add his ability to move the ball and it starts to make sense.

Not really a believer in either,
