2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I'm down for Dink.

Is his last name Pate, rhymes with mate? Or is it like the food dish, Pâté?

If the ladder, I like him even more.
Look if @Hearsky 's mom ever offers you Dink Pate she is not talking about an nba draft prospect. You decide if you want to accept or not.

Justin Edwards was a consensus top 5 recruit.

Would have been funny if he went the Ignite route, sucked, and you had a bunch of people arguing he should be a top 5 pick because he is just struggling because he in a pro league.

Skal Labissiere was a #1 or #2 recruit once upon a time.

This is just a funky draft. I like Risacher as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't be excited about making him the #1 pick. Topic has been MIA for 2+ months. Sarr will probably go #1 by default. Castle is now being praised for not shooting and not handling the ball much. Throw Dink into the mix and the draft becomes a bit more interesting.

With or without Dink Pate this draft is still trash.

He is intriguing though. Raw, raw, raw but tons of raw ability. He is a very live athlete and plays like a bat out of hell.

Yeah, so just take Edey.

I am not that impressed by Dink, except that he has a cool name. To be fair, it might just be appropriate to ignore GLeague altogether, such a weird environment for them to play in. Scoot was damn impressive his first year in the GLeague bc he was 17....but he didn't improve a ton the next season. It's an interesting question though (which we will never have to answer again), what is the expectation for a top 5 pick in the GLeague when they are 17? When they are 18?

BTW, Shaedon Sharpe is irrelevant. Had he played and stunk it up, he probably wouldn't have been drafted as high. Top prospects rise/fall all the time, not playing is completely different than playing and Dink played 24 MPG. It's just kind of funny that he might suddenly be a #1 kind of prospect bc of his high school rankings. Look at the rankings from 2023.

I will go watch this guy if he actually gets in the draft. I think the likelihood of it happening is low.

Just nothing about Pate jumps off the screen to me watching the highlights. He isnt a PG. I know that much. He looks like your run of the mill top 50'ish HS kid. He does have legit size for a 2-guard, which is probably his best quality

While we’re on the topic of guys who don’t produce… why is Risacher ranked so highly?

He's a starter on the 4th place team in France and 2nd place in Eurocup. He was on fire to start the year. He has produced. He has fallen off as of late (as a shooter at least) but to say he hasnt produced is kind of a mind-numbing take. I think there is just a big disconnect with the way you look at European stats because it's a consistent theme with you.

I love Topic and Sarr though

Yeah....kind of a braindead take. He was ranked highly all year because he producing at a fairly high level considering his age. Now that he's struggling, people are starting to drop him. That's just fair and what you'd expect. If you look at his season as a whole, it's still quite a high level of production given the competition he's playing in versus his age.

Turns out that when a player is on fire his stock is really high and when he starts to slump his stock starts to fall.

lol thank you for proving my point

What is the point you are making? That when a player plays well his stock is up and when he doesn't it goes down? I'm seriously struggling to understand. I feel like that could not be more obvious.
