2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

2 tries. Topic available at 10 both times. Also, it thought trading 10 & 29 for 7 & 34 from Portland was fair.
Interesting I have done it 5 times and Topic wasn't available ever at 10. I went aot of different routes.

At 10 - Williams, Salaun, Carter, Holland and Knecht.

At 29 and 31 it was all over the board. Surprised Ware was available a lot. I was hoping for Holmes but he seems to be going a lot ealier.

Dont think AI can really do trades correctly. You can traded 10, 29, 32, and a 2nd rounder for the #1st overall pick.
I would be nice if they could figure the NBA draft places with a certain value. In the NFL draft every pick has a certain value. So in order to do a trade the values have to match or be very close.

At 10 I had my choice of Topic, Holland, and Williams both times. At 29 it varied among guys like Smith, Shannon, Klintman, Kolek, Edwards, George, Schierman. 32 had a couple from the 29 list and always Dunn.

Maybe he got a promise at 29 (unlikely) to establish his floor.

For a guy slated in the mid 20s to shut down his pre-draft process, the team is probably offering him a path to rotation minutes with a sold role in addition to a 1st-rd selection. It's probably a team like the Knicks or the Nuggets that are promising him the backup 5 role. The Knicks have two picks back-to-back in the mid 20s and are expecting to lose Hartenstein this summer in free agency. They could give Holmes a promise with one of the picks and be flexible with their other pick.

The Jazz could be giving him a promise, but it seems a bit early for them to tie up their late 1st and early 2nd, which could otherwise be packaged in another deal. Maybe they love him though.

Or he just wants to build hype and feels like he has done enough and doesnt need to workout...

Krysten Peek (Yahoo Draft Writer) did a radio spot for Utah today. She said she is going to have Salaun at #5 on her next board and she talked to a scout that has him ranked #2. That was the only real takeaway I had from the interview. First half was about Bronny and Utah's interest, which was apparently real.

It looks like teams are all over the map with their player evaluations. There's allegedly a team that has Kel'el Ware at #5 on their board.

Locke said the Jazz could have moved up to 5 in last year's draft and he says he think they can get up to 4 in this year's draft.

FWIW, the chatter about a team having Kel'el Ware at #5 on their board is supposedly a team inside the top 10. This is just @bigmike-level rumor material. But if that's the case, then a team drafting inside the top 10, say Charlotte or Portland, could turn to Ware if Clingan is already gone. That would open a door for the Jazz to trade up a few spots and for that team to take Ware at #10. Meanwhile, a week or so ago, Locke said the Jazz should have the opportunity to trade up a few spots they see a guy they really want. It's just noise, but maybe it'll accumulate into something. There'd have to be a consensus that Clingan is going top 5 or so.

There are a bunch of nice targets for teams to aim for at #10--Knecht, Collier, Dillingham, Edey, Ware, Carter, etc. Maybe Holland is there.

If I were Detroit, I'd be taking a hard look at Knecht and Tyler Smith. They'd both fit really well next to Cade, Ausar and Fonz.

KOC did a podcast with Givony that dropped today along w/ a Devin Carter interview. Havent listend yet, but will soon.
