2024 NBA Draft Reaction Thread

Dillingham really couldn’t have went to a better situation. He has the best defensive team in the league surrounding him.
Yeah I guess it’s the way some personalities were like “their offense stalled in the playoffs and this is perfect” like it’s a solution now. I think he won’t be playable in the playoffs first year… which is fine. I like it long term… and overall get the pick… but by time he’s playoff ready I think Rudy may be on the decline. Regular season I think it will work though. I was way more puzzled by SA. Punting on a top ten pick that could share a prime with Wemby is malpractice imo.

Maybe Spurs figure we got Wemby and vets are going to be begging to play with him
Yeah I think they were thinking 7 years ahead and having flexibility when contracts get tight with Wemby on a max plus more. Nearly every other player I'd say planning that far ahead is silly, but Wemby is Wemby

Gonna be the best summer league of all time.
Imagine a summer league team of Hendricks, Brice, keyonte, Williams, Collier, and Kessler (I highly doubt Kessler plays and don't think keyonte will play). That would be amazing

Keyonte and Kessler won’t play, but

Collier, CDub, Sensabaug, Hendricks, Lofton, Bazley and Yurtseven should all be there fighting for roster spots and roles in the rotation. That’s still an exciting group.

So here’s my deal with the draft. I don’t care too much about success or failure if the process makes sense. Draft is chucking darts but just make sure you aim at the right things and the picks have logic. Anything can happen. Williams might be Tony Snell or Jdubb 2.0 either way I think the process was sound. Last two drafts have made so much sense to me (didn’t love the Key pick but it made sense)… so I’m happy with where we are headed.

So roster is loosely like

Sexton/Collier
Keyonte/Clarkson
Williams/Sensabaugh/Bazley
Lauri/Hendricks/Lofton
Collins/Kessler

That's everyone currently under contract/drafted?

Still think the Jazz can draft basically whoever they want outside of a small guard. They could still use another 2-guard. Pelle Larsson would be a great pick IMO if they want to go with an older prospect who can be a connector. Would also go with the Pac-12 theme.

Man what a draft. I was drinking and got so tore up around the time we drafted Williams, that after I passed out and didn't see who we drafted at 29. I don't know much about Collier but do like his highlights.

Not Collier? His body seems far more NBA-ready.

Also, Collier went to the line 5.8x a game as a frosh in 30.0 minutes last year. That’s HUGE imo. The best players in the league get to the line 6+ x a game.
Collier plays wild and out of control, can't shoot, and didnt guard well. He needs to be coached hard most likely.

Cody plays the right way, does the things coaches want him to do to fit in, and can play the 2 and 3. I think he is going to impress coaches with his wide skillset which will help him see the floor.

not even much of a shooter. shot 35% from three (36% in conference play) and he basically only took open catch and shoot threes. Collier shot 34% from three (35% in conference play) and he supposedly can't shoot. i guarantee the threes collier took were tougher than Furphy's threes. i'm honestly not sure what furphy is good at. decent size, but dinosaur arms. poor athleticism.

Terrific around the basket. High amount of those are assisted, but also one of the highest FG% around the rim in the entire draft. Terrific in a transition. 3FG% was up and down, but better indicators (3Pr and FT%) put him in a better light.

He’s physically underdeveloped and will never be a star, but he plays super hard and has good role player qualities. Plays like a dog with some skill.

He's a beanpole. Solve that then he levels up three times as a player.
