2024 NBA Draft Reaction Thread

I've kind of been expecting a lot of movement around the league getting announced today. I thought maybe with teams all together anyway, there would be deals getting done.

I came into the draft hoping for a wing, a guard and a big.

2 out of 3 so far is great. I really want filipowski but could see the versatility of drafting Furphy. Smith is also a nice swing for the fences player.

Okay so apparently Flip has an older girlfriend... lol came up on the Lowe Post. If that factored into the draft slippage would be hilarious. Maybe there is more to it but thought it was funny. She is like 8-9 year older per some internet peeps... and went to prom with him.

"and your girlfriend has a weird case... why is she around?"

Can't believe Hawks sold Griffin for the 44th pick. Yeah I'd do it for 32th. The kid is a solid rotation piece already when given the minutes. Same can't be said about anyone we draft in the second round. Houston's got another steal.

I imagine that is par for the course when you are essentially born into the position that will make you more money than well over a thousand people combined will ever see in their lifetime. Never see a day in your life that your money is in question, other than what position you are in on the big board. So instead of turning to drugs, you turn to your standard billionaire hobbies...owning sports teams.

Would have to be both for me.

Something is not right with Griffin. It didn't make sense why he fell so far in the first place, then he has a great season only to be banished to the shadow realm. What's going on there?
He's deep into Rapture TikTok or whatevs... but also might be some weird personality stuff. There is more to it than just basketball.

He looked like he would develop into one in 2022-23 but last season not so much. Barely got on the court.

Also the religious bigotry stuff was too much for my taste.

He declared rapture coming any day now multiple times last fall, saw all kinds of signs, and also said Beyonce promotes satan and no one should go see her shows.

He is the guy at the subway station holding a sign.

I'm not sure there are any big moves to be made this summer. Based and recent trades the price to acquire even mediocre vets is sky high, and there wasn't anything in this draft that warranted cashing in a bunch of chips.

Still, sometimes you've got to make your own luck. And I've been pretty unimpressed with Ainge too. The team has spent the last two years chasing its own tail. Waiting for star players to fall into your lap isn't a viable strategy for the Utah Jazz, What's more, all those future picks everyone is so ga-ga over are all likely to be late first round picks of marginal value.

Clearly the correct strategy for 2024-2025 it to tank hard. But I'm not sure Ryan has the stomach for it.
I’d be happy to see our mediocre vets get traded for a much more fair price to help reset the market.
