2024 NBA Mock Draft #3

While I think it’s interesting that Rob and Topic are BOTH available and I wouldn’t be completely opposed to taking them if I could get something for trading down… I think it probably just makes the most sense to just take Knecht. We have prospects at many positions and Knecht can fit with any of them.

He’s not even in my top 20.

Simply too old.
I like the Bub pick but for the kings win now timeline Knecht would be an awesome fit. Also if there is truth to Monk re-signing then he is a ready made replacement for Fox if he bails which I don't think will happen. Monk made amazing strides last year as a playmaker that I didn't expect.

Yeah but if Fox leaves who is your point guard?

Monk can’t play the point full time.

It’s been pretty well established that Fox will get an extension and sign it this offseason. Bub is fine but if the idea behind the pick is he will take over for Fox then the logic is off. They also have Ellis so not even sure Bub could get on the floor. Knecht was the pick imo unless you wanted to go Dilly/Topic just as an asset upside play.

Also between Keegan Murray, Kevin Heurter, Malik Monk and Harrison Barnes at the wing position..

I don’t see how Kenecht will get a look in.
Heurter is probably gone and Monk will be getting the backup pg minutes. Also Barnes is getting almost all his minutes at the 4 and Murray will see minutes there as well. There should be at least 24 minutes a game for Knecht between sg and sf. I actually think the best choice though would be Ware but he is kind of a polarizing player and I'm higher on him than anyone else on this board. Also I do like Bub a lot but I'm looking at it strictly from an immediate impact standpoint for them in win now mode.

Well I have Bub at #10 and Knecht #20, so there’s no way I’m gonna reach for a worse off prospect just for fit.

BTW Bub is also higher on my board than Topic (can’t shoot) and Dillingham (calorie deficit scoring)

I think he showed last year that he probably can play pg full time plus with the kings Sabonis is an offensive hub as well. You really only need a guy to bring the ball up the court and then you can work your offense through Sabonis.

Bub can very easily slip into the SG position.

In todays NBA you need at least 2 playmakers on the floor anyway.

No way in hell would I ever pick positional need over talent.

If a can’t miss talent in my estimation falls on my lap I’m gonna take him first and foremost.

I feel like every year there are guys like Bub that do well enough in the mid range that people get excited. The main thing for me with him is the late growth spurt. Not sure he’s athletic enough to get the shots you actually want. Rob and Topic are quite a bit higher on my board but to each their own.

There’s no doubting Dillingham’s scoring talent. He could even become an All Star. A Trey You g lite so to speak.

But on the defensive end the other team would just target him every trip down the floor especially in the playoffs.

Topic I’m just not sold on his shooting ability. We see Giddey getting played off the floor due to his lack of shooting and now traded away.

At the end of the day only time will tell. We’ll come back and revisit these evaluations and probably laugh about how right or wrong we were 1 day.
