2024 Vegas Summer League Thread

I didn’t scout Bub too much because he was in between our picks…but my quick view of him was “JHS but actually deserving of the hype”. I wonder if WAS keeps Poole off the bench and lets him run the show. They’ve got a weird mix of players.

The time between the draft and when we get to see prospects play is heaven. We can all just dream about how good they are. Seeing dudes you would’ve drafted with your team’s pick look better than the player your team drafted is hell.

It's brutal. First off his voice is like nails on a chalkboard and then his takes are just bad. Particularly his defensive takes. He tries to blame Bronny for everything when most of the time it's another teammate that is the issue or it's just good offense.
Is he just bias because he thinks Bronny was only drafted because of his dad?

IIRC he shot >50% on mid-range off-the-dribble jumpers on high volume (per Thulein or Barlowe; I don’t know how to find this stuff). As a freshman. In a major conference. Paired with ~33% from 3 and ~80% from the line you have yourself a damn good chance at having great shooting all over the court. Especially being 6’ 5” with a 6’ 9” wingspan and playing PG/lead guard from the start of the season.

He didn’t do well near the basket. That’s the only red flag I can recall.

I really don’t get why some prospects get so much hype and others don’t.

Haha, it can be a kick in the balls. It kills me watching Whitmore even though I do like some of the flashes Hendricks has shown.

Being happy we didn’t draft Whitmore cuz he’s a doo doo head or whatever is such copium.

As he slipped to our pick I couldn’t believe it and was on the edge of my seat as the commissioner started in on the pick I repeated over and over please please please!!! Then Hendricks came out of his mouth I damn near threw my phone at the tv. One of if not my darkest draft watching moments. It’s at least up there with the Burke Draft. Lol

It’s what we got, but sure.

The problem with Williams is he has the same problems and is playing way worse than last year.
My whole issue with Williams is the same as what it is before the draft. He moves just like I envision some stick character moving, he has no meat on those bones. He’s not very explosive and I think it hurts his dribbling.

It's still the same year really. These guys finish college and then start preparing for the draft. They are in a gym, but not playing competitive basketball. There is no reason to think they are going to be better than they were in college yet. Williams was always a guy you had to imagine what his game would look like once he gets an NBA body. He was always a guy that was going to take some time.

I guess mostly I'm thinking about last year when a guy I really liked, Lively, was horrible in the Summer League and I kind of wrote him off, then he becomes one of the most important rookies last year. Podz and others who ended up having good seasons were bad too.

And the Summer League isn't even over. Still plenty of time for Cody to have a game or two where he pops.

Bronny is 6'1". People are worried about Dillingham who is 300% of the player Bronny is because of the height thing.
Didn't dillingham get drafted way before bronny?
