2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

I also would toy with the idea of going small and dare the wolves to post up Gobert. Admittedly, It’s probably a lost cause.

He definitely is a poor defender. But the Lakers offense looked so stagnant. I think they’ve gotta try to shoot their way out of this series. I think they’ve gotta hope to get hot offensively and outscore Ant man than whatever it was they tried last night.
He’s not just poor though. I don’t think he’s playable in the playoffs levels of bad.

I’m good with the chaos that comes from either the Lakers or Wolves losing in the first round. You want the Wolves to decide the team is mediocre so don’t spend like billions in tax and you want Luka to doubt how LA will put long term partners around Luka. The 2027 pick is not guaranteed to be in the 20s. Also, Wolves winning may increase the market value for Naz and NAW which may lead to their exits.

I’m not sure if Mark Williams is actually good but they need a big man and may regret not finishing that trade. Defensive implications of having a big are huge but also for Luka to be fully realized they need a screener/lob threat. Was amazed at how pedestrian Lively looks right now. Luka may love bagging on Rudy but they truly may have been like an elite duo.
Basketball is still a big man game. Steph is the only cheat code to that rule.

I think Randle and Ant cramming it down the paint is gonna be enough to exploit the Lakers size issues. They went small and that ain’t gonna work either. The Lakers are a bit overrated. They have a lot of talent but the fit and overall flexibility of the roster has some holes. Long term they may have to sacrifice Reaves to get big man help.

I just noticed that the 8th seed in the Western Conference has 48 wins while the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference has 37.
Every few years the narrative always resurfaces of claiming there’s now parity. And man, I think it’s been this way for almost 30 years.

The Jazz need to figure out how to get moved to the Eastern conference during the next expansion.

Or even better, just get rid of conferences.

Obviously this is superficial analysis but according to AI, the last time the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference had a better record than the Western Conferenfe 8th seed was in 2016, and the time before that was in 1999. There needs to be a league-wide moratorium on discussing parity until something actually happens.

Expansions in Vegas and Seattle and we can be the first proxy team Salt Lake City via Nauvoo.

We'll find the place which God for us prepared — far away, in the East.

It’s only fair.

The Lakers have the worst non star roster in the playoffs imo.
Like I think if you take away Luka and LeBron then the Lakers are the worst team in the playoffs if you also take away every other teams 2 best players.
Lakers have a lot of scrubs in their rotation.
I don't think Minnesota has a single scrub in their rotation. Every single player in the Minnesota rotation is a player that would be on the rotation for every team in the league.
Lakers got a horrible matchup for the first round and the Lakers have a horrible team built around their stars.
40 year old LeBron and fat out of shape alcoholic Luka have to play 48 minutes every game and have to have extremely high production

I predicted t-wolves in 5 or 6 because of all that

Having the Wolves sweep or convincingly beat the Lakers would be a positive for both the future Wolves picks and the Lakers 2027 pick.

Seems like Finch is in his bag right now. I think limiting Gobert's minutes vs the Lakers is a smart move, especially if your offense is humming like it was. Saving Gobert's legs for a matchup against the Thunder is good, because I think he matches up better against the Thunder than the Lakers.

You leave Luka alone!!!!! HE NEEDS HIS DRINK IT TAKES THE PAIN AWAY!!!!

OKC too good

Man, hate the thought of tanking in a play-in situation, but Memphis would be much better off with their late lottery pick then getting curb stomped by OKC
