2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

I actually don’t even think he was that bad at the beginning. When the Wolves were struggling out the gate, it was because so many players had dropped off from the previous year. Rudy, Conley, and Naz were all down and they also weren’t getting much from DDV. That’s just what happens when you have aging players past their prime and also players coming off career seasons. You can blame some of that with having to adjust to Randle, but people were literally acting like he was the spawn of Satan. Expectations were already high and for some reason people gave Randle the expectation that he should be 1:1 with KAT. That trade was not made because Randle is supposed to be his equivalent.
Which is why the trade was dumb. Their window was open now. They should’ve bitten the bullet and paid whatever was necessary to keep last year’s team together and go for broke this year.

I’m old enough to remember when Memphis was one of the top young up and coming teams. Ja looked like Drose 2.0, everything SGA actually is. And then they had some injuries, Ja went crazy, and they fired their coach.

Character matters. Had Ja focused on his game with half the energy he’s focused on guns and his social media profile, he might actually be able to lead a team.

Acquiring Aaron Gordon was such a good trade for DEN…I wonder where they’d be without him. They wouldn’t have a ring, that’s for sure.

Wow. Jokic barely missing the 30-20-10 tripdub in carrying his team to the 2 point win. Dude is already a legend.

Meanwhile SGA with the 38 pt bomb to carry his team to the win. The first time this playoffs they needed every point of his to win a game, and the closest game of the series by far. So let's see, if SGA doesn't score as much, and they share the ball more, they win by 30 consistently, but if he goes off and puts up crazy numbers they barely eek out the win. Interesting.

Also, the eyeball test. Joker’s supporting cast kinda sucks. Porter has such low bball iq. It’s kinda crazy to me how Murray is a shell of his former self. Meanwhile, OKC just has waves of talent. They’ve got starters coming off their bench.

I agree that Jokic should be MVP, but this is some silly logic. Often-times, superstars have higher scoring games out of necessity. Nuggets are 0-4 all-time when Jokic scores 50+, for example.

Nuggets bench is just so god awful it makes his MVP case super strong if you heavily way how much he has to do for his team. I still think SGA had the better overall season, so I would vote for him. Nuggets just had their GM commit war crimes for the past 2-3 seasons on their bench by trying to develop "his guys" even though the coach never wanted to play them.

Supports the point actually. Chasing numbers doesn't generally foster team play. Of course not all the time and irrevocably, I mean, duh, and no one is trying to say it is, but there is ample evidence of players becoming a black hole and appearing to "carry" the team when maybe involving the team would have been better.

So whoever is the Cade Cunningham of this draft, we need to draft that. We’re seeing a budding superstar right now. We need that. An alpha who can be a #1 option while still playing defense (unlike Spida) and leading a team.
