Went with Spy for the heart stopping delights, I'm gonna go 'global' with my next choice for a bit of variety... gonna go with Siro.

I don't know if this is a good voting system.

In the 1st place vote Siro is coming a clear 2nd overall. But here he's tied with everyone else. Siro might not get a placing all together, while all his 1st place votes may be wasted.

(i.e, since many already voted him in the 1st place vote, they're not going to vote him in the 2nd and 3rd).

A better system should be do 1 poll at a time and say '1st place poll', then after that one is closed and we know the winner, do a '2nd place poll', and so on and so forth.

The same thing we normally do when we do the annual Jazz consensus BPA draft poll (which coincidentally Cy organises, so not sure why he doesn't use the same system here).

The way he's doing it is 3 points for each first place vote, 2 points for second, and a single point for 3rd.

Ah, ok, if that's the case then it makes sense. Wasn't made clear in the OP of the poll threads. Thanks for clarification.

Does it really matter if you know that? I'm just asking people to rank their personal top 3. How other people are voting shouldnt influence you.

It's not about how you vote, it's about how the votes are processed. If you combined them the way Siro described it's fine, cos there are no wasted votes.

Otherwise Siro's votes in the 1st place poll could be all wasted.

No, I mean it shouldn't influence you at all. I'm just asking for people to rank their top 3. It doesnt matter if they know there is a point system or not, that information should have no influence on their picks.

What you are saying makes no sense about votes being wasted. If you change your pick just so someone wins because you see they are close to winning, you defeat the purpose of the poll, which is to pick *your* favorite 3.

It's just not apparent from the polls that there is an underlying 'formula' for calculating. As it stands Spy wins the 1st poll, Siro wins the 2nd poll.

But using the formula, Siro might be the overall winner.

Yes, I will handle that. No one needs to know the formula (even though I explained it in great detail on the same post as the final pick in the draft so all the people who need to know will know). It should have no baring on anyone's pick, so therefore it's inconsequential. Please stop complaining about how I've run the draft and polls. Doing these things is more of a headache than it's worth with how much people complain.

I'm not complaining, just pointing out that most people voting would not have read through pages and pages of the draft thread, and since you didn't put in the OP of each poll that the final winners will be announced after processing of votes, people are going to assume that the winner of the 1st place poll wins it, then the winner of the 2nd place poll gets 2nd, and so on and so forth.

It's just human nature, common sense.

Is it strange to anyone else that in a poll ONE LOVE isnt participating in as a contestant there arent any random posters we have never heard of voting?

Cool, it doesnt matter what they think. Their jobs are to express their opinions on the rankings of sandwiches through the polls. They are given all the information necessary to make the selection that best represents their taste and preferences.

So you want their votes and participation, but it doesn't matter if the results confused them?
