Who prefers 3D movies and why? Or maybe just for specific genres or films? Anyone changed their mind about 3D movies one way or the other?

Personally, I hate it. It detracts from the whole experience for me, and when they don't include annoying "look at how cool 3D is" effects, then it still just doesn't add to the movie. Take into account that I wear glasses, so the 3D glasses they give you are uncomfortable for me and the whole package is just garbage. For me anyway.

FWIW the best movie I have seen in 3D was Up. They used the 3D to add depth to the animated world, instead of having things jump off the screen, and did it very well.

What are your favorite or least favorite 3D movies?

Edit: decided to make the poll multiple choice.

I've only seen a small number of films in 3D. That's because I don't really care for it. I don't feel it adds anything to the viewing of said film. Then, it's only worse when you buy/rent the movie and have to watch the stupid little things they added for the 3D aspect, but without the "benefit" of 3D. All in all, I wouldn't care if there was never another 3D movie.

I was also going to mention Up as the best 3D movie I've seen. Very well done. But many 3D movies have been disappointing/annoying, so I selected love/hate relationship in the poll.

I have never seen a 3D movie.

I've been to a movie theater about 3 times in the last 10 years and I slept two of those times.

Avatar was cool

They usually suck.

Coraline was the only one that I liked, and because the 3D wasn't used as a bunch of dumb jump scares. It was used for depth.

Avatar and Gravity were amazing in 3D. All other action films are horrible in 3D - mainly because the action these days goes way too fast with fast choppy edits and poorly done cgi - add 3D effect to that and it turns into a big mess.

Would be interested in seeing MadMax in 3D because the action sequences were very clear and so well done

Overall I usually pass on 3D
