50 facts about America that our founding fathers would never have believed

For those saying Beck and O'reilly .. This is hardly a pro-GOP / hate Dems list..

I'd be pissed (if it were all true) regardless of freaking party.

I totally agree with you here. This kind of stuff did not happen overnight (or in the last four or previous 8 years) - nor is it going to be fixed over night. The corruption in politics is disheartening and I see no way of being able to eradicate it. Incumbents (specifically Congress) will continue to be voted in (because its the easy thing to do) and they will continue to corrupt the system as long as it is still beneficial for them.

Wow, that list seems like it was written by a 7th grader. I loved all the vague "facts" and not a single link to be found. If I had the time or inclination, it would be interesting to actually research all of those "facts" and see just how close to true they are. I'd bet at least half of them are pure horse ****.

"#49 Memorial crosses erected along Utah public roads to honor fallen state troopers have been found unconstitutional by a federal appeals court and now must be removed permanently."

They were placed on private property (14 of them) and are still along the highway. They are just north of St George, UT.

As for all of your assertations...do you have links?

As they should have been found unconstitutional. Putting them on private land is a reasonable compromise.

Personally, and outside of Constitutional issues, I'm not sure I have that big of a problem with it, I just cannot help but wonder how our good religious friends who clamor for the 'right' to have their religious views endorsed by the state would react if these were not crosses but a symbol of the Islamic religion.

Anyone venture a guess as to whether they'd, on average, support the Muslim's right to the same displays of religion on public land?

To me the easiest, and most common sensical solution, is not to grant any religion this right. Thus all are treated fairly (and Constitutionally), equally, and none can (or should) have grounds for complaint.

I'd say that the would be against it by a 60-40 majority. I agree that the private land use was the best solution.

One problem I have is that over 70% of Utah land is owned by some level of government.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah See the geography section (towards the bottom of that section).

This is the standard American's problem in a nutshell.

That morons make **** up and pass it off as fact? Or that people actually form their opinions based on the **** that those morons make up? I agree, it is a major problem.

Awesome thread though.
