97-98 jazz in 2k11

I'm not great at this game, but that guy is terrible. The ballhandler gets picks nearly every trip down the floor and he doesn't use them, in addition to passing up a wide open, spot-up 3 from Russell on the wing. That last play was so bad, in fact, you can hear the crowd respond.

Some thoughts on the game play videos.

- Malone's bald spot is harsh.
- the crowd still looks horrible in bb games. they are going crazy when they shouldn't, and generally don't react well to whats happening in the game.
- that guy playing the Jazz really sucked. Malone got straight owned on two plays.
- Where the hell is Anderson and Carr? Weak Sauce 2K!
- I will be buying this game reguardless, because I'm hooked on whatever crap 2K gives us.

Crap? You have got to be kidding me. Go read the IGN review. Their verdict is not just the best basketball game ever but the finest sports game of this generation period.

So far there is nothing but universal acclaim for the game. What 2K has been able to achieve in twelve months is incredible.

Got my copy of the game today. Those generic players aren't placeholder. Stockton, Malone, Hornacek, Russell, and Keefe are the only Jazz men from those classic teams in the game. They actually have listings for the 96-97 and 97-98 teams, but the rosters are identical.

Most of the classic teams in the game are like that, actually. Even the most complete classic teams in the game (the 91-92 Bulls and 94-95 Bulls) still have two placeholders. The bigger disappointment for me is that you can only use these teams in exhibition play. They have a whole mode called "Jordan Challenge", where you're tasked to recreate a historic moment from Jordan's career. Two of these challenges feature the classic Jazz squads, but there's no option to change history.

But for me, that's just a minor gripe. I always get a ton of replay value out of 2K's online modes, and with all the work they've done to the My Player and Online Team-Up stuff this year, I'll probably be putting in a lot of time with it this year as well.

The game is super polished, and nothing like the turbo-charged dunkfest that EA's basketball offerings have been the past 7 or 8 years.

EA is horrible. If I were to buy one it would be 2K

However, I have been very disappointed in sports games the last few years. They're not making the improvements that I would like (but maybe a lot of other people prefer).

I could care less about allstar games, dunks, erin andrews, and the rest of the nonsense that EA and 2K are doing.

give me more in-depth playbooks, better graphics, realistic looking players (malone looks horrible. Stockton wears long shorts), real gestures and postures of the players, authentic looking stadiums and arenas, and better more realistic player movement. Give me the entire Jazz roster of 97-98 over some stupid "Jordan Challenge."

To me, it seems like these companies are targeting the audience of the age of 12-15. Which might be a great business decision. But for me, I prefer more substance over "coolness."

I agree. what I really want out of a basketball game is to be more of the "head coach" rather than to control players.

I also believe that every team from 1980 forward should be in the game. They can afford to pay the licensing fees. I really want to see some historical games. Can this Miami team beat the 86 Celtics? Can Stockton in his prime (88-92) beat Nash in his MVP years?

At the very least, we should have every team every year since they started doing sports games yearly.. meaning we'd have at least back to like '90.

im going to get the game soon...just bought a PS3 recently, is there anyway to find people's online names or should we start a new thread?

Quick update:

Jeff Hornacek's free throw routine is in the game, face wipe and all. You can give it to created players, too.

2k8-2k10 were the same game for me. only minor adjustments.

the 2k11 demo looks better, and feels different enough to warrant me getting a little excited.

The crowd, players faces, realism, are still along way from being a sim game imo.

I just got the game, can't wait to play it, i've been following this game for a while and they really improved a lot over 2k10. it sucks the court is wrong but oh well, we'll have to live with it until a update is released.

* fiddling with the controller *

So how do you push off of Bryon Russell?

Just started it up for the first time, at the beginning there's a Jordan intro and you start off as Jordan's Bulls vs. Magic's Lakers. The player models on some of these retro players are impressive. I'd love to play against this Lakers team as Jazz, Stockton vs. Magic. The generic players hurt the experience a little bit but not as much as you'd think. They got Jordan down perfectly in this game and it's hard to use anyone but Michael when you are using the Bulls.

You can't fool me! The Delta Center never had that LCD strip above the luxury boxes during the 1997 season!

Just played a few games as the Jazz.

-Hayward > Bell (in the game at least)
-Bell sucks. He doesn't guard anyone, and he can't hit a shot
-Big Al is a force down low
-even though the Jazz two toned court is wrong, it still looks great
-the crowd is still terrible
- the game is much harder than years past, its hard to score inside
- the faces are still bad but improved
- Fes is not on the Jazz roster
- Miles is making his 3s! (Memo is not)

Overall the game is a step up from years past. Somethings are good, but still over the top. The AIs defense and steals are over done. It's good to see them play such good defense,
but it's fake. It's too good in some cases.

Still waiting to see if I want it on PS3 or PC. I would really like some good mods to fix the jazz court and the generic players on the classic teams.

Hayward is money in this game lol and you are right Big Al is a beast. Memo has never been done good in 2k games and this is no exception.

I also noticed Hornacek really sucks, it's unfortunate.

Fes is on the roster, at least of the ps3 version. Jeremy Evans is in it and he's fun to use cause he's super athletic.

They made getting steals better, if you play solid defense you or your teammate will steal the ball, but at the same time they made it more difficult on offense cause the defense reacts a lot quicker to passes. I guess they were trying to even it out a little bit.

If you get PC, make sure you have a decent graphics card else the graphics will be very sub par
