A few Awesome Ideas

1st idea: Bucks to Seattle?

If the Bucks can't keep their team in Milwaukee, and they move to Seattle, Let me tell you what should happen. The league should move Memphis to the eastern conference. This could have a big impact. The east would get better and they need to get better. The western conference divisions would be thus constituted:

Pacific:

Lakers
Clippers
Sonics
Warriors
Kings

Northwest:
Jazz
T-wolves
Blazers
Thunder
Nuggets

Southwest:
Mavericks
Hornets
Spurs
Rockets
Suns

This change would help the Jazz in the near future in the sense that there would be less competition to make the playoffs (at least in the near future.)

2nd idea: A change in All star Weekend.

I think All star weekend is pretty lame, tbph. That being said, the league should scrap all star weekend and instead have a mid season single loss elimination tournament. make it so that every player on the winning team gets a million dollars or something. I would totally tune in. I think it would be so fun to watch. And upsets, though maybe less common than in college basketball, would be super fun to watch. The players are competitive, and they would want to win. Just imagine Kobe and Jordan in a tournament like this. They'd go crazy. The league could structure the tournament in this way:

#1 vs. #30
#2 Vs #29
So on and so forth.
Don't separate teams by conference or division. Do it college basketball style.

Or maybe an even a better approach would be to randomly pit teams against each other. That would be interesting.

I Think the Mid season Tourney would become a great spectacle. And it would increase the pride of fan bases if their team performed well and ultimately won the whole thing. There would be upsets. The Bulls beat the Heat without Rose last year in game one. Maybe the heat try harder if everything is on the line, but it was still the playoffs. Who knows? after the tourney, the league could give the players a week off or so.

So, in essence, Scrap the all star game and have a mid season tourney. Fans would love it.

What do you think? Discuss.

I've always liked the All Star Game & don't understand the annual hate it gets. If you don't like it then don't watch the mega-millionaires put on an exhibition while the low paid players take a well deserved break. TBPH

The second idea is just stupid, and players would drop out like flies! Pretty soon we'd be watching one on one's with Jeremy Evans vs Some crappy rookie because the stars won't want to. But I expect ideas like this from pee brains like batpoop!

Wow, finally something I can agree upon with franklin. Wait...did I just see a flock of swine outside my window?
I don't mind all-star weekend. I like the rookie-soph game. I think the skills challenge is fun to watch. The 3-pt contest is ok. Sometimes I watch, sometimes I don't. The slam dunk contest has gotten completely stale, IMO. Not sure how to fix it, though. Perhaps the traditonal freestyle format to trim the competition to 4 finalists. Then a "horse-style" contest. Each player gets to perform a dunk that the others have to copy. Judges give out the scores on the four dunks to determine a winner.

Don't like the mid-season tourney idea but I agree that All Star Game needs fixing.

How about this: Line up all of the all stars on the baseline. The two players with the most votes become the two team captains (regardless of east/west). They pick the players for their teams, school-yard style. No east-west divisions at all, just wherever the players happen to fall. Winning team gets to donate $xx to their favorite charity.

This....... totally this. See who can do dunks that no one else can do.

Also, im one who likes the all star game/weekend.

Not a bad idea. Would be fun to see who lebron and durant would choose.

Basically make it like the NFL Pro-Bowl (Team Rice vs. Team Sanders). I actually liked the idea of teammates going up against each other in an "exhibition" game.

I swear didn't they have a horse competition like 5 years ago? It wasn't for dunks but for trick shots. I like the idea though

All-Star Weekend isn't for everyday NBA fans - it's designed to attract new fans and sell crap.

They already got your asses hooked - what do they care what you think?

You guys are harsh. OP is on to something, but it just needs a little work is all. The main problem I see is that tournament would be far too lengthy as it would need to go at least 5 rounds, which would be quite disruptive to the regular season. Instead, let's take some inspiration from WWE Royal Rumble. 30 teams play simultaneously. Court altered to octagon shape, with 8 baskets, and of course 4 balls. First team to score 100 wins. The teams with the two best records get to start on the court first, with the third best record team allowed on the court 30 seconds later, the 4th best record 30 seconds after that, etc. Will probably require 30 or so officials and a small army of statisticians/scorekeepers, but I think it's only appropriate that All-Star Weekend pay tribute to some of those forgotten "behind-the-scene" types. Also each team will need to come prepared with some theme music to be played upon entry to the court.

Once a team hits 60 points, there will be a TV-timeout/"halftime" during which Britney Spears, Eminem, Shakira, Bruno Mars, and Disney on Ice will all perform simultaneously.

Winner of NBA Rumble gets free tattoos, and other various assorted hip-hoppish fare.

No! The problem is it would be scrub vs scrub, but yes, a 30 player tournament is quite possibly the worst idea ever.

I saw a cool idea for a three team basketball game, three baskets in a triangle court, obviously not for the nba or anything but seems like it would be lots of fun.
