Love the dog, fish. I may have said this before but it reminds me a lot of Max's dog in The Road Warrior.

I love my dog so much too. She's 12.5 and in great shape minus a pretty good-sized tumor in the middle of her liver. If she didn't have that, I'd guess she could easily live to 14-15. Maybe even 16-17. Which is not normal considering she's an 85 pound Chow/Lab/Shepherd mix.

I love my dogs. They are treated like family. We are out with them all the time. We take them camping and hiking, etc.
But I'm not the type of guy to spend thousands on them. If they get a serious injury requiring surgery/therapy, it ain't happening.

Wow, that truly is impressive for that breed. They don't usually live so long. Usually get fat very easily too. (Maybe the Shepard helped against that) Im happy for you.
I LOVE labs by the way. Imho they are the best all around dog. Can fit into any family situation in any environment. Great temperment. An every mans dog.

Sure some can have some issues (Most notably they love to chew things and can be kind of accidentally destructive) but overall I think they are fantastic.

My chocolate lab never chewed on anything except rocks. My yellow one, though, is an entirely different story. I had a hundred for hose that he chewed into about two inch pieces. I'm still finding pieces 4 years later. Now he just has a tennis ball with him at all times. It helps a ton.

I can totally respect that. A few years back, we had two dogs. The one who could be EXTREMELY nasty wouldn't take his glaucoma (I think?) drops and went blind. There were three options and we chose the one that seemed most aesthetically sensible which also happened to be the cheapest. He then got doggy Alzheimer's (not even kidding) and so we put him on meds for it but he got even more aggressive, mostly with our other dog. So we put him down. He lived a good 11-12 years himself and was a great dog but very mean at times and had we not done that, we would've come home to either him or the other dog dead. Literally. I had seen their fights (both were chow mixes) years before a few times. Blood all over. They were fierce. But I wasn't gonna destroy my life or turn it totally upside down for the damn things. Hell, I had already slept on the sofa for like 3-4 months because the one with Alzheimer's was pacing all night long on the hardwoods in our bedroom.

Jesus ****ing Christ. I had another post typed up 99% of the way and my daughter deleted it somehow.

I always say that, but I don't think I could say no to my dog. Dammit man.

I feel ya. I love my dog so so much but there is a point where I can't worsen my life really badly in order to make his life a little better. (Damn that sentence structure and wording is ugly)

What is the green UFO turning your dogs eyes into silver lightening?
Lol.
That's his favorite thing to do. He sits at the top of the stairs and I lay at the bottom. I through the ball up to him and he rolls it back down to me. Often I will stand for the game and throw him passes off the wall, off two walls, through my legs, behind the back, bounced off the carpet and a bunch of other variations to hard to describe. He is really really good at catching the toughest of passes from me and he seems to like the challenge of a tough catch. And when he has the ball at the top of the stairs sometimes I will move my hands a certain way and that tells him to come down and play tug of war with me.

It's a great game cause I can lay on the floor at the bottom and watch tv or have the baby on my lap or whatever and just chuck the ball up to him and he rolls it back and that way I can be lazy or multitask while he still gets exercise/interaction.

I had a black lab eat a cassette tape (it played music back in the day for you younger posters out there) one time and I had to pull the ribbon out of her butt.

Ya, I don't know what I would do either tbh

I'm gonna be a mess when he dies

Btw, right or wrong, I often judge people based on how they treat dogs... Especially mine
