A trade idea (somewhat)

Are you saying trade Al for deng? They wouldn't which is why they are trying to get a rookie contract for him. Or are you saying trade one of our young players.

You're forgetting one major piece of the puzzle. Chicago is like Portland East. They're downright fascinated with Utah Jazz players

Your point? They're in this predicament because they're not cheap enough, or should I say wise with their money. Deng isn't a true difference maker either and is at best a 3rd option on a championship team, and imo, more likely a 4th option and they paid him a contract that's going to net him 14M soon enough.

They've managed to put together one of the best teams in the league, and actually had a legit shot at a ring. Once you get to that point, I'd say you deserve the benefit of the doubt on whether or not you know what you're doing. I just don't see the point of nitpicking contracts on a championship caliber team. I doubt anyone in Miami is kicking themselves right now over how much they are paying Mike Miller.

I won't disagree but then why are they looking to trade him?

I rest my case.

The main reason is probably because they don't expect to contend next year with Rose out. Instead of trying to go as far as they can next year, they are probably going to try and reload for when Rose comes back.

With a rookie who probably won't reach his potential for at least 3-5 years?

First off, I don't think they're actually looking to trade Deng. It's been reported that they are considering it, among other things, which is quite different. They need to cut salary, so they should be looking at all angles. I think the Deng rumor is mainly speculation on some writer's part. The idea being that they are stuck with Booze, keeping Rose, and that leaves them with Deng and Noah to consider trading to cut salary. I don't really care too much, either way, but they are going to be 6 million into the tax this year, with 10 players, and no Rose to chase a title. Chicago won't be the only team with tough decisions to make, which is why KOC put himself into position to have cap room when the new tax penalties kick in.
