A trade that I want the Jazz right now...

to make. Once again, the Jazz are burned by the other team's PG (this time against Kyle Lowry). I have decided that this is the trade we need to make:

Jazz receive:

Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, future draft pick

Celtics Receive:

Paul Millsap, Devin Harris, Raja Bell, Golden State pick

Depth Chart:

SG: Ray Allen, C.J. Miles, Alec Burks
SF: Gordon Hayward, Josh Howard
PF: Derrick Favors, Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter

Boston
PG: Devin Harris, Keyon Dooling
SG: Raja Bell, Michael Pietrus
SF: Paul Pierce, Marquis Daniels
PF: Paul Millsap, Brandon Bass
C: Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O'Neal

This trade works on ESPN.com's NBA Trade Machine as well as on Realgm.com's Trade Checker

Reasons:
Um, duh! We get an All-Star Caliber Point Guard (who is 25 by the way) in Rajon Rondo plus a veteran sharp-shooting guard in Ray Allen (age: 37) who's contract is coming off the books after this season. Unfortunately, we would not only have to give up Millsap, but also probably our Golden State pick (which is Top 7 protected in this year's and next year's draft) to get the Celtics to jump. Rondo gives us exactly what we need at the Point Guard spot (defense, athleticism, and a pass-first mentality). Ray Allen would give us what we hoped we were getting when we signed Raja Bell (defense and unbelievable shooting). Also, Allen's age and expiring contract would be almost perfect for the future of Alec Burks. Let's face it guys: the Jazz's system is built for the Point Guard and Power Forward/Center (low post) positions. We have never made the playoffs without All-Star-caliber players at these positions (Stockton and Malone/Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer). To me, this is a glaringly obvious move for the Jazz to pursue.

As far as I'm concerned, we're trading Sap and the GSW pick for Rondo. I could explain all that, but do I really need to?

I'd do it.
 
I will trade anyone not named Favors, Kanter or Burks to get Rondo. I'll give up the GS pick too. I know I'm in the minority, but we're not going to be any good until we get a point that can distribute, and stop the other team's point from going off for 25+.

I think that they just might. They need some new and younger blood infused into their lineup. I could see Harris, Bell, and Millsap being great fits for the Celtics. Paul would be their 3rd scorer (behind Garnett and Pierce), which is the role he is perfectly suited for. Also, the Celtics' championship teams from the 80's had their best players at the SF, PF, and C positions (Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish). Also, if they don't make the playoffs this year, they would have two lottery picks available to them, which increases the probability that they land a top 3 pick (just like we did last year with our acquisition of the New Jersey pick that turned into Enes Kanter).

Harris isn't a good fit for anybody and I know we all like Bell....but he really isn't that good. And I don't watch the Celtics play that much, but does Garnett play Center for them? If he doesn't, then essentially we're trading them a really, really good backup PF.
 
I think Celtics would set their sight very high on what they can get back for Rondo. If I were the Celtics I'd try to get someone like Bynum back in a trade (LA desperately needs a PG, Celtics need a new big man to replace Garnett & rebuild).

So yes, I do think Millsap + Harris would be a bit of a let down.

Harris was a good fit when he played for Dallas, as they went to the NBA finals with him at Point Guard. Bell is basically a throw-in to make the contracts match. However, he would replace some of what Ray currently does for the Celtics (outside shooting and defense). The real boon for the Celtics would be the Golden State pick and landing good players for the expiring contract of Allen before they possibly lose him in free agency. If the Celtics were to get to lottery picks in the upcoming draft, they could look to draft players to eventually replace Harris and Bell.

I don't know if the Celtics would really be interested in trading their All-Star-caliber point guard to their arch-rival in the Lakers. I also can't see the Lakers giving up on Bynum without getting back another top-flight center (like Dwight Howard).

Maybe you're confused with what I'm saying....I don't care what Devin Harris did when he played for Dallas. If you've seen him play recently, you would realize the he is an absolutely terrible starting PG, one of the worst in the league. He wouldn't help Boston out at all.
