What's new

Aaron Gordon was in SLC today....

It's Julius Randle. Showing Nick that he's a power forward the hard way, because there's nothing small about him, and he's #hungry.
bro....

SMH, really? maybe, just maybe he was making an example of how good he thinks he will be and that was a way to express it....just maybe

I'm pretty skeptical about Gordon even though he's pretty athletic. I think people get too excited and see things that aren't there... even if they could be in the future. I do like his defense, but we absolutely have to have a 3 that can hit a shot, Defense is #2 in my mind. Do you draft a Josh Smith over a Carmello Anthony, I don't think so. Have I seen enough to know if Gordon will actually be able to score in the NBA, I'm not sure. He slashes and the NBA is a whole different animal when it comes to slashers than the NCAA. Can Wiggins score in the NBA, I think so but I'm not 100% sold. Parker will be able to score, but will he be able to defend anyone, I don't know. What does this team need more of right now, defense or a legit #1 option?

tbh, I'm pretty skeptical about all of them and yet I would want/cheer for any of those 3 or Vonleh/Exum on our team. For some reason I really don't want Smart.

I wish Utah could somehow get a workout with Vonleh, Randall, and Gordon together and have them play a few of one on one games. Toronto picked Bosh over Collison because Bosh dominated Nick in a one on one game. It turned out to be the right move. If V,R, or G really want that 5th spot and the money bump they should be willing to battle for it.

I don't see how the Josh Smith over Carmelo statement is valid. There is nobody who can score at the 3 where the Jazz are at. Gordon makes the most sense.

True, if the Jazz stay at 5. I seriously think they will move up though. Just my opinion. If they move up they better not choose Gordon.

The Smith over Carmelo thought is that if you have a choice of someone that can play defense but has trouble scoring and someone that can score but sucks defensively you still have to go with the scorer. Not a perfect example as we don't know if the players discussed even remotely will turn into either of them, but is as likely of a projection as anything out there.

It's valid if we're talking Jabari vs. Gordon.

Okay, I guess he mentioned something here. But it's pretty much a non-sequitur and seems to be inflected as such.

Anyway.

Anyways Gordon should be the pick at 5. But the Jazz really need to move up for Wiggins or Jabari.

It's not a coincidence that the final four teams in the NBA all had great small forwards. LeBron, Durant, George, Kawhi.

They also have really good players at other positions, but yes they all have great small forwards.
As a side note, I don't think Leonard was considered a "great" SF until he was made Finals MVP. Was he great before the finals?

I don't know, but I really do believe that the Spurs were on the hunt for a physical specimen that could defend at a high level at the position with the specific purpose of matching up with Lebron and Durant (where every champion of the next 10 years will be one of those two players, or will have to play against at least one of them) and were ahead of the curve in their thinking.

Kawhi or not, if the Jazz are going to be great in the next five years, they are going to have to have some kind of answer for the two best players in the game.

You make a strong argument for Wiggins over Parker if a miracle happens and we move up to 1.

Jazz bringing in Gordon again may be a reflection of the draft reshuffling after the Embiid injury. Vonleh was rumored to be a possible top-4 pick ahead of Exum. Now I think it's almost a lock Vonleh goes before #5. Gordon likely the pick if the Jazz can't trade up.

Does everyone think the Jazz will pass on Embiid without a doubt?

This is good and big news, Mr. Commissioner Aaron Air Gordon welcome to the Utah Jazz.
