What's new

Aaron Gordon was in SLC today....

Jazz bringing in Gordon again may be a reflection of the draft reshuffling after the Embiid injury. Vonleh was rumored to be a possible top-4 pick ahead of Exum. Now I think it's almost a lock Vonleh goes before #5. Gordon likely the pick if the Jazz can't trade up.

I'm worried Gordon won't fall to us. Gotta trade up for Wiggins/Parker. If Gordon is gone DL will pass on Vonleh and take Randle.

He might have to play some minutes @ the 3 on our current roster, doe.

There are you happy 3k? HUH? You ****ING(<All Caps) better be!

Jazz brought Boozer in twice and didn't draft him. However, I am a Gordon homer and I am excited about this visit. I hope it means they will pick him with the #5 pick.

I just don't see this as a valid argument, since more than one person is making it. When the Jazz brought in Carlos Boozer for a second workout and didn't take him in the draft, it didn't mean it was meaningless or a smokescreen. Maybe they thought he would still be there when they picked 12 picks later. Maybe they had some questions about his game that they wanted answers to, and he answered them for better or worse. Regardless, they still ended up with him a few years later, on a pretty substantial contract for that time. So obviously, the interest was genuine.

The Utah Jazz were also a very different team at that time. Stockton and Malone were still with the club, Jerry Sloan was still the coach, Deron Williams was still in high school, and Andrei Kirilenko had just finished up his rookie season. The brass was totally different and the decisions they made at that time have no bearing on why Aaron Gordon was brought in for a second workout a few days ago.

I, for one, am mighty pleased that this happened. Had he not been randomly spotted at the airport, we wouldn't have even known this -- which makes me think that they wanted to keep it on the hush hush. I am indeed making the assumption that, if the Jazz keep the fifth pick, they will select Aaron Gordon. And that would be a great choice.

Just because he didn't handle the ball as much as the others. If he could have created his own shot maybe he would have and you would see the to's increase.

He handle the ball more than you think.

Also, it's about projecting his skill-set. For someone who didn't handle the ball a ton in the half-court, when he did, he got some pretty good results. He can handle the ball on the break too. He makes the passes that present themselves and makes advanced passes. Arizona wasn't exactly an offensive powerhouse either. If Aaron Gordon was on a team with a wide open floor and shooters (like Jabari), he probably could have averaged way more assist.

I'm fairly certain they all have a positive A:TO ratio.

Definitely don't. I think a lot of dudes who have moved into the back of the lottery (projected) now have a positive A:TO (Stauskus,Harris, Payton), but the top prospects are all negative besides Smart and Gordon.

So...Do they have negative assists or negative turnovers?

Hahahaha... Rep'd HAAAAARRRRRDDDDDD!!!

It's interesting to me that the Jazz FO is being so tight-lipped about Gordon having a second workout. Even Locke won't acknowledge it.

BTW - I wouldn't be surprised if the workout consists of shooting, shooting and ..... more shooting.

Gordon's first step and handle is so good that he just needs to be a decent shooter to be amazing.

Favors just needed to develop a little offense to be amazing
Kanter just needed to play a little defense to be amazing
Hayward just needed to be more consistent
etc, etc, etc.

When a player has been balling all their life and STILL does not have such an important component, it's not an easy task to add it.

So all of our young guys are done developing?.......

Damn they all hit the prime of their careers pretty fast.

Boozer needed a heart, AK needed courage, and all Corbin needed was a brain, but alas...

That's funny, especially since my daughter is in the Wizard of OZ this week. I worked props last night and will be watching her perform later today.

However, you have to remember, "OZ never did give nothing to the Tinman, that he didn't, didn't already have..."

So maybe Quin can come in and unlock the talents the current Jazzmen have, but couldn't quite unleash under the old regime." I think most of us were singing the "Ding, Dong" song when Dorothy Lindsey rid us of that awful witch of a coach.
