Advice needed.

I'll start out by letting saying that I frequent this board, yet never post. I'm not a alt account, and I have never posted on here before. I was just looking for some advice. I know some of this board is quite level headed (quite strange for being jazz fans), so I'm looking for advice.

Story - I went to a dinner and a movie with my fiance on a sunday a few weeks back. We left at around 3 PM and arrived home at 7PM to find my house was robbed. The front and back doors were wide open, and i found out that they came in through an upstairs window. The house was thrashed. Whoever did it turned off our breaker, and turned it back on 14 minutes before we arrived home. I'm assuming they did this to by pass any alarm that may be present. At least they were thoughtful and turned it back on. They took $2,000 worth of electronics, yet decided to leave the credit card that was sitting on my dresser.

I arrived home today to take the trash out and found an HDMI cable, which i thought was long gone, laying in my yard closest to my neighbors house. I didn't see it before because of the snow. I've had a few run in with these guys in the past. I've had to call the cops on them once before a few months back. Some friends of mine got into a physical confrontation with these guys during a party, which they were never invited to yet showed anyway.

Am i crazy to think it was these guys? I know they are shady characters because I have friends who have purchased illicit drugs from them in the past and have told me as much after the fight a few months back. When the cops came, they stated that my house was the only house to be burglarized that day. The guys in question are 3 brothers ages 20-27 and they all still live with their parents.

Maybe I just needed to vent, and I'm jumping to conclusions. What would you guys do?

Your post is a little unclear. It sounds like you think your neighbors robbed you?

If they are any kind of druggy that is more than just a pot head then you should be suspicious. Thats what druggies do. They steal for their drugs. I think most cases like these are done by people who have some kind of knowledge of your habits and when you are home or not. Druggies are stupid too so they would be dumb enough to rob their next door neighbor. Im not sure what you should do though. Need more information. Your explanation of things are kind of vauge. Any how. I suggest you sell your house and move. Or rob them back. Police probably won't be any help to you.

Or you could lie to the police and say you seen them do it. Haha. Thats pretty risky though. Lots could go wrong with that.

Welcome to the black hole. Theres no leaving once you've been sucked in.

It's most likely a close neighbor. I'd report the dropped cable to the police and let them do their jobs, which probably won't yield much other than making them nervous to move the stuff.

Report it on home insurance if you have it.

Kind of obvious that your fiance is banging your neighbor and this whole "robbery" thing was created just to distract you from discovering the truth.
