4. AL JEFFERSON, Jazz — His talent was never in question, but earlier this season it looked like Jefferson had become one of those guys who was labeled underrated for so long that he’d actually become overrated. Recently, however, Jefferson (17.2 ppg, 9.0 rpg) has grasped the Utah system and quietly started to dominate. So far in February he’s averaging 23.6 points on 57.7% shooting from the field.

Wow that makes him best in the West??
But yeah he seems more confident in the Jazz system right now and has put together a nice string of games. Would love to see him go on a streak of double doubles. But the part I like best is his defense. A lot of people said he couldn't play defense. But he has proven to be a solid shot blocker.

If he continues improving we could well see him in the All Star game next season (if there is one) considering there are so few options at center.

What do you mean by weirdness?

You can't fault the guy's effort though. He is clearly playing with a lot of hurt. He won't even high five people with his right hand. But he knows how much the team needs him and was willing to take the blame for the loss. Showed some character I thought.

If Webster's defines "weirdness" as "a sprained wrist on your shooting arm, tired legs from playing 38 hard minutes per night, and facing opponents whose scouting reports than now completely collapse their defense in the lane and dare your teammates to shoot then I'll agree with that.

I do agree Big Al's play has been the lone bright spot this month. He's become more efficient on the left block and his pick-and-roll play is night-and-day compared to the beginning of the season. If we can get him to pass and rebound consistently next year look out, but in a year like this I'll be satisfied with consistent low-post scoring.
