AK - Do we want him back?

No kidding. For whatever reason he didn't get the calls. But you have a guy like Wade or Kobe and you breathe on them and it's a foul. That's one of the things that I don't like about the NBA -- the dishonesty and lack of integrity, which smacks of corporate America today. Just like Karl didn't get the call when MJ stripped him and down on the other end, he blatantly pushed BRuss and no call.

Jazz can't sign and trade him.
Prove it.

I heard from KOC's mouth in an interview that they had his rights that they could trade. Because the Jazz were his last NBA team that he played for, we reserve the bird rights to sign and trade him. At least that's what I understand.

Thank God. AK, stay over there please.
He thrives in the mentally and physically weaker euroleagues. That is where he is best, easily. Nothing wrong with that.
When faced with NBA talent and toughness, or coaches who wont cater to him, he wilts. By that, I dont mean he sucks, but he is far from the top tier player he is over there. He becomes average, which we have enough of, IMO.

Excellent. Next year I anticipate the inevitable resurrection of "bring back AK" followed by a discussion of his PER, then followed by talking about how underrated and under appreciated he was, then discuss how he'd take some secondary role and be happy being the 5th option, then be reminded of that one time where he did that one thing where he hit that one shot, then continue to praise his defense, and finally end it off with "at the right price" or "if the price is right" (I'd guess if you ran a search on those phrases you'd get at least 1k hits referencing AK

Well said, sad but true

Relevant info:

The player must finish the preceding season with that team (deals are no longer allowed that sign-and-trade players who are out of the league, such as the sign-and-trade that sent Keith Van Horn from Dallas to New Jersey as part of the Jason Kidd trade in 2008)

AK's "decided" to stay in Europe despite having interest from several NBA and good offers from three teams. Yeah, right. Names AK or the offers didn't happen. Isn't it interesting that there have been absolutely ZERO rumors about AK. If there truly were 3 offers on the table, I'm sure we would have heard about at least one of them. After all, he's an UFA.

The only teams I heard about were the Kings and Nets, but there was nothing concrete. But maybe AK's asking price was too high.

Always a small chance it is a negotiating ploy. Some European site was claiming Ilyasova was going back to Europe for a big contract. Just got a nice size contract from Bucks. We will see.

OK, so I decided to research it too, and it looks like you were right. However, I wasn't the only one who was confused about this. From David Locke:

https://weareutahjazz.com/lockedonjazz/2012/07/01/insider-andrei-kirilenko-returning-to-the-nba/

The Utah Jazz still maintain the Bird Right’s to Kirilenko meaning they can sign him for whatever they wish regardless of their positioning in the salary cap. I was under the impression from people that the Jazz could sign and trade Kirilenko but according to Cap Expert and CBA expert Larry Coon the new CBA says you can’t sign and trade a player who wasn’t on your roster last season. Still some confusion on the rules of the new CBA.
So unless we want to keep him ourselves, we got nothing.
And if he's staying in Russia, than we've got noting anyway.

(see, I admit when I'm wrong.)
