Your point is a misinterpretation. AK's strength was as a team player. That's what he always has been, playing for the good of the Jazz and his Russian teams, for the win. You ever see AK take it on his own on a break -- no he always passes off to the player with the easiest shot. AK's strength is as a facilitator, making the other guys better. That's why he had such great +/- stats over the years, why he was the first or second most important player on the Jazz during the best of Deron's years, 2008-2010. Another boardmember posted the stat. He was number 2 in 2008 and 2010, and number 1 in 2009, and those were his bad years, that everyone talks about on here.
That was why I liked him as a player; he played for the team. But he got taken out of the offense and couldn't contribute, that's when the dam broke loose. There's no doubt in my mind that Jerry and Deron led to the decline of AK. Ok, so people are right when they say he was weak-minded and wasn't able to deal with it. But don't put all the blame on him, and don't say he can't still play at a high level. His play on the Russian team this year, MVP of Euroleague and in Olympics is proof to the contrary.
OMFG!!!
Your comprehension skills are as bad as it gets. You still aren't listening to a damn word I said. You keep saying the same damn crap in response to every arguement I give I've given. Yes he's a team player in the sence that he passes the ball to his teammates, but he quit on his team in the sence that he started to not do the things that he used to do like play defense and make every hustle play.
What you don't seem to understand is this...
1.Even as good a playmaker as he is Deron is ten times better and needs the ball in his hands, and Boozer and Memo were better offensive players, and Even Brewer is a better finisher at the rim. So AK played second fiddle to Deron as a playmaker. He still had his opportunity, but it's better for the team to let deron be the primary catalyst for setting up the offense. AK played second fiddle to Boozer and Memo on offense, and even lost out on the base line cut to Brewer because Brewer was a better finisher
2. He lost playing time and respect of the coaching staff and Deron, because of his me me attitude that he developed. Yes, he was a willing passer, but he refused to recognize what was best for the team. He could've been a better Rodman, who was more skilled then Roman. Rodman didn't have plays called for him ever but he busted his *** every game and gave what ever team he was on what was best for the team. AK didn't need touches to be great. All he needed to do was bust his *** and play his roll, and evolve himself right along with how the offense was evolving. He would've gotten his points and assists just by sure hustle alone. AK didn't need to have the ball in his hands often to be successful. He proved that the handful of times he put up big numbers.
So, I don't know how I can be more clear on why it's AK's fault he wasn't better for the jazz. Did Sloan make mistakes? Sure, no one's perfect, mistakes are a part of life. AK chose to let it affect his play on the court, and relationship with the coach and Deron.
In the end AK pouted and it got in the way of his play. He has no one to blame but himself.
