AK: The X Factor

It's slow and we're all waiting for the season to start.

I saw this video today that reminded me of our conversations on AK's importance his upcoming season.

He and Deron have great on court chemistry, I forgot how great AK and Deron were together in January through March last season, you never saw Deron celebrate with Booz the way he did with Andrei. With our weakened bench we're going to need an All Star year from him. If I get to watch me some vintage AK again this year I will be a very happy man.

Enjoy. Sorry if it's already been posted.

I think some people seem to forget how well he was playing because of the injury. Hopefully his decision not to play for Russia this some with have him fresh as a daisy this year and please God no injuries.

I'm letting myself believe again that this is AK's year.
Even though we've been here before.

The fact that Boozer is gone, and it's a contract year make me believe yet again.

The question is can AK stay healthy?

This year could be a a lot of fun if AK is playing great ball.
I want so bad to see AK give us that special year we've been waiting for since we signed Boozer.
For one reason or another it hasn't come. It's now or never for AK. I'm starting to get
excited about this year, and let myself believe the fairytale. Why not...? That's what's great about this time of year.

Does anyone know anything about his offseason activity (besides his much anticipated vacation)?

Really? How can anyone even get excited at the notion of him a) being healthy b) being healthy for 75+ games or c) him not being a bitch on and/or off the court if and when he is healthy? Move along.

Ummmm, when was he a bitch this last season when he was healthy? He was a big part of us winning games.

To me a vintage AK would be the player who could go 5x5 any given night. I would like to see him play some 4 again. We can really use his length and quickness inside.

When healthy and happy, he is a game changer. He seemed to be half of that all of last season, and all of that for 3-4 months. I firmly believe if everyone in the NBA were playing to their full potential in every possible way, he'd be a top 10... ok maybe top 25 in the nba, but high in that list. You can not disagree that when at potential, he's amazing. Hell, at half his potential he's worth 8m/year. Lets be positive.

He took the summer off... This year, I expect him to start, 30+ mpg, play at least 60 games this year-- two more than last year. I'd like to see 70, but it might be pushin it. If we can get a non rusty, happy, in shape AK most of the year, we're going to challenge the Lakers.

If AK took the offseason off, he'll be pathetic. His conditioning from last offseason showed itself in a huge way once he got into a groove and I feel it also had an effect on his mental toughness. When AK takes time off from training, you get the Anorexic cancer from '08-'09.

Every year there is this same thread. AK is the X factor, and WOW how good it would be if he comes through. But, every year, he fails.....again.

I do believe his effectiveness diminished after Boozer signed with Utah and became the PF and "go to" guy. AK was a better if unconventional PF than at his current SF role. I would love to see him get more minutes at PF this year.
I also believe CJ Miles and Gordon Hayward will greatly determine how PT is distributed. If Hayward "gets it" as quickly as I think he will, he'll see significant minutes in our rotation. If CJ continues to improve like he did the latter half of last season, his minutes could go up too. AK could then see half his minutes at PF. Heck, he could even end up starting at PF with Millsap getting most of his minutes off the bench at PF.
