Al Harrington and Denver

So Al Harrington has a torn meniscus. He's going to try and play it out I guess, so we'll see how it goes. I tore my ACL last year and from over compenstating with my good leg I tore my meniscus and I need surgery to repair it. I can play ball on it, but I've lost all explosiveness and it swells up. I can't imagine playing multiple games a week on it at the NBA level. I can't jump or go down stairs very well or stand on my feet for long periods of time. It's really frustrating cause it takes so much away from my game to the point where I'm not going to play again until after I go under the knife.

I look at this as a possible game changer for the Jazz. He's a 6th man of the year type player, and definitely makes his team better. Could this help the Jazz make the playoffs? We'll have to watch Denver and his play more closely and see what happens.

Al Harrington revealed he has a torn meniscus following Denver's win against Golden State on Monday.

Harrington had played in all 57 games this season.

Harrington reportedly suffered the injury a few games earlier and wants to keep playing.

I tore my meniscus too about 9 years ago. I never had surgery and it got better after about a year from rehabing it. It was good for a long time but the last couple of years it has flared up on me. It sucks. You do lose alot of explosiveness. It's a little scary taking off one leg.

So I'm not sure what is the best route or not, but maybe I should have had surgery back then. I just have never liked going under the knife. I have passed on a couple other injuries. I have also had a few surgeries. And I can tell you I lean towards the way of no surgery. After surgery things just aren't the same anymore. Not to mention the cutting through nerves. Some injuries though I wonder if a surgery might have been better. It's a tough call either way. Injuries just plain suck. Especially as you get older and they start adding up.

You bastar-d, Manscill! I have a slight meniscus tear as well and never feel right running on it even after physical therapy. You've called down the wrath of Knee-Health-Nemesis and she's wearing a strap-on.

I broke my femur once and tore my Achilles tendon right off my heel—the tendon rolled up my leg, half way up the calf. I just stapled it back together and won the 2009 Church ball championship the next day...and I'm not even LDS. You guys are pansies.

Although, it's been bugging me/festering/turning green-ish lately... I might just have to chop it off just to shut it up.

This thread was supposed to be more about the fact that Al Harrington will probably miss the rest of the season. Seeing how he's probably the 6th man of the year or top 2 or 3 guys for that award, it's probably going hurt a team that's a game and half ahead of the Jazz in the playoffs. From what I read about him today, it looks like his season is done.

I spoke to Al Harrington at Best Buy. He said he was gonna try and fight on but doubts he can perform at a high level. He would rather try and play than completely miss the chance to play in the postseason.

Harrington should probably just shut it down. Don't see the point of him trying to play hurt just to make the playoffs .. and then not be able to play in the playoffs .. I don't know, I guess I don't really see the logic.

even with harrington healthy, denver is pretty susceptible. 7 of their 9 remaining games are against winning teams (as opposed to 5/8 for utah, 6/9 for houston) and their conference and division records are worse than the rest of the field, which hurts them in tiebreakers. in terms of head-to-head, they have already lost TBs with utah and dallas, and are 1-1 against houston with a home-and-home coming. they will hold onto 8 if we stumble at the end, but other than that they could be in trouble.
