Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

Did no one else read this post? It looks legit, why would Harrington be lying about coming to Utah

He didn't say he was coming to Utah. The tweet he was replying to said, "Give [Utah] a look." To which he replied: "I am." Ergo, he is giving the Jazz a look. Along with several other teams, no doubt.

Deron, Milsap, and Al Jefferson all legit 20-10 guys! Giddy! Al is 25 and can fill a great need. Now the jazz can focus on AK and what to do. I am ok holding onto the contract if they resign him at a good price, if not move him to open up money or get someone back.

I have to say, I don't think the Jazz could have handled the Boozer situation better than this. Five years and $75M for Boozer is too much. This lets the Jazz move forward and gives them a bit more flexibility. They pick up a good asset--good player equity--in Jefferson, and can make a calm decision about AK, Okur, Tomic and Millsap looking to the future.

Boozer didn't draw double teams. Most coaches were smart enough to avoid doubling a guy who would rather shoot jumpshots or fadeaway from 15 feet from a low post position.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned in the thread so far (granite, I haven't read the whole thread) Just a season ago, Jefferson averaged 23 and 11 and the season before, he averaged 21 and 11 - and that was while playing without a PG, let alone Deron.
Boozer drew double-teams against 80% of the league, just not the Lakers which is what everyone rememers.

Yeah Jefferson did average 23 pts but he was the #1 option and took 20 shots per game that year to do it. FWIW Boozer average 14 shots per game last year, and his FG%'s were routinely 5-6 percentage pts higher than Jefferson, who's range only extends out to about 12 feet.

Look, in leiu of how this offseason has gone, I really like this Jefferson deal and he'll allow us to once again compete for a top-5 seed, but the idea that he's a superior player to Boozer is another case of hometown fans overvalueing opposing players while undervalueing their own.

Did you want Bosh or David Lee? I think more likely Al Jefferson pushes Okur to the bench and starts with AK and Millsap.

I'm happy with Jefferson. Just because I am questioning defense doesn't mean I don't like the trade overall. In a perfect world, he'd be a great defender. But it's not. This is a great move, though. Better than Lee for sure. Not sure about Bosh, though, even though I think Bosh is overrated. Like Bill Simmons said, a superstar doesn't go to the lottery in 5 out of his 7 years.

Who said Jefferson is superior to Boozer?

And no, Boozer did not draw double teams. I don't think he's been doubled-teamed in a basketball game since Junior High.

While I realize that Jefferson is not a beast defensively I am very excited about this. Jefferson is going to get about 5 or 6 very easy buckets a night playing with Deron in Jerry's system. If he stays healthy and if this trade is actually for real, I predict he will average over 24 points per game. He is very long and will be able to go inside against the Lakers and Spurs.

Health is the main thing. If he is healthy and is even somewhat receptive to Jerry's system and the coaching staff he will do exceptionally well here. I think Deron will really like playing with someone who can finish inside like he can.

Jefferson was the number one option. If Boozer played for Minni last year he would half shot more and his percentage would have gone down since the defense would have focused on him. Al now has Dwill to get him the ball in better position and take some pressure off him. I am not sure that he is better than Booze but you have to look at the whole picture. Additionally Players play better when their team is doing well.

I agree - you put a guy who is capable of putting up 21-23 points on 50% FGs without a PG and give him one of the best PGs in the league in a power forward friendly offense, it's certainly not out of the question that you could see him go for 24 or 25 with a FG% in the mid 50s.

All we need now is to sign Brewer to open up the middle for Jefferson and Milsap!

Championship!!

that field goal percentage and shots per game will all change when he comes to the jazz with d-will feeding him and talents around him to complement his low post skills
