Don't think you realize the impact a chip would've had on the program. Maybe Rick doesn't get let go when he did, and the utes would've gotten even more interest from higher profile recruits, and maybe still be in the national spotlight instead of being in the gutter all these years.

Seemed like every damned year we were getting bounced by Kentucky.

Yeah.. I remember when Rick talked about how glad he was the he wouldn't have to face UK (in '98) ... "Unless we both make it to the championship game." He was hilarious in the pre-game presser heading into the chip..

That was a heart-breaker for the Utes. Not only were they up 10.. but UK wasn't expected to do that much that year (it was a surprise). The other years UK beat Utah it was never supposed to be close.
