Amber Guyger Trial Starts...

This is dumb... maybe a civilian could accidentally shoot someone that they think is in their house but a trained officer has to have better judgement. Even when you walk into someone else’s apartment you should notice other stuff about it that is wrong. Whether she’s lying, stupid, or was on something she needs to be put away.
Do you need to prove dumb AF to get murder 1?

..... and... what happened next?

I shot everyone in there...

Kidding... I saw a girl washing her hands and thought why is she in the men’s room... then I saw no urinals and said ohhhhh ****. I apologized and scurried out of there... it was finals week and I literally was walking with my nose in my notes before a test. I was charged with nothing but embarrassed as hell.

Self defense? Was she threatened? And she couldn't recognize that the furniture was set up differently in the apartment?

She drew and fired without issuing a warning? Was there a confrontation?

Well it's just the 2nd day of trial, not all the details are out yet.

But yeah apparently the furniture was set up differently. But then again I think you need to take into account tunnel vision. Her being startled by a man being in what she thought was her apartment.

No confrontation, no nothing.

Apparently she said 21 times on the 911 call "I thought i was in my apartment".

You don't just shoot a man without warning him or threatening him to get out of (what you think is) your apartment. You say, "You're in my apartment. I'm armed and I'll shoot if you don't leave now."

Well then why did she do it?

She doesn't know the guy. She has no other motives.

OK just to play devil's advocate - how about the Stand Your Ground Law?

You're allowed to use force (even deadly force) to protect yourself in your own home?

If she truly thought she was in her own home - was she not in the right to view him as a threat (i.e., an intruder) and defend herself?

Stand your ground? From a dude armed with a ****ing ice cream sitting in a lazy boy? Reverse those roles and have a white woman sitting in her home eating an ice Cream and a black man shoots her. They'd fry him like ****ing chicken. Amazing country America. One Love King of court TV...

I moved to a new apartment in the same complex. A couple of days after moving in, I walked into the apartment next door as it was the same configuration as my old apartment. I instantaneously realized this was not my apartment as the interior decor looked nothing like mine. And I did not ever entertain the idea that the two startled people in the room were intruders. It was a split second realization on my part that I was wrong.

A cop likely has heightened danger awareness than I do, but I cannot see how anyone can justify what she did.

If I did walk in and someone was watching TV on my couch my first reaction would not be to shoot them. I'm not sure what it is like for women and I'm sure I have a different view of what is threatening... but my first thought wouldn't be this person is here to get me... I might pull a gun out if I had it on me but I'd figure out what the hell was going on before firing shots.

Her story makes no sense.
