Seriously, do the Girl Scouts exist for any other reason than to sell cookies and in the "off season" nuts and candy? There was so much pressure on my daughter to meet sales goals and then she was ostracized when she didn't. Glad we decided, with her in agreement, that there were better ways to spend her time (sports, children's theatre, etc.). Good heavens, this troop has made THOUSANDS of dollars for the national organization already. Ordering 500 CASES instead of 500 boxes and managing to sell ALL BUT 588. That's a tremendous feat and the girls should be rewarded for going above and beyond, not face the possibility of their troop being disbanded over $2,000. They've made many times over that in profit thus far. Hey, GSA...how about donating the remaining boxes to the troops (which is an option when you buy cookies)? They should sell the brand and shut down the troops or use the windfall to actually build a scouting organization.

The only thing the actual scouts are good for as far as I can tell is making me feel bad for telling them no thanks as I walk in the grocery store.
 
Mmmmm "massive cookie mixup" sound delicious!

All they have to do is get a couple of the kids to cry on the local news and people will come running in with money.

It's fun to haggle with them. They get confused and then annoyed.

My guess would be they either sell the actual cookies (or at least sold them permission/rights to use the cookies) to the ice cream manufacturer. They made/make money on it.

Right. I'm saying the national organization gets all the revenue and nothing trickles down to the troops. The GSA is a top-heavy bureaucracy.
