Andre Miller

Denver is trying to trade Miller to the Griz, but Griz don't want to spend that much on a back-up point guard. Depending on what the Nuggets want, would you trade for Miller? He has 2 years and approx. $10m left on his deal. $5m per year seems like a relative bargain for a mentor/starting PG. He's a better player these days than Tinsley and a equal or cheaper salary than Mo Williams. Miller doesn't mind coming off the bench and he seems to have served as good mentor to Ty Lawson. Maybe Denver would accept a 2nd-rounder, plus Marvin's expiring deal for Andre Miller? Do you want the return of Andre "The Ute" Miller to Utah and what would your trade proposal be? One more deal with Denver?

This is actually the perfect scenario. A very good backup for Trey Burke to learn from. I like it.

Absolutely. One of my favorite players. Super crafty, could teach Burke a lot.

Does Andre Miller want to play in Utah? If he's not ready to commit to Utah for life I don't think we should bring him in.

That's the biggest question. Does he want to play for a 25-30 win team? I'd probably do it for Marvin's expiring but nothing else. Again, why do we want to GIVE UP assets for helping teams with their salary problems. We should be getting the player AND an additional pick for doing that.

I would love to have Andre Miller on the Jazz if it costs us nothing more than a 2nd round pick. That would be a very good fit, someone who could split minutes with Burke and mentor him as well.

I think he starts half the year if he plays here which I'm okay with. He seems like a guy who is fine coming off the bench or starting.

Uh...Only $2mm of Miller's contract is guaranteed next season. If it's a salary dump, trading Miller for Marvin makes no sense. Miller still has value as a player who can give you 20+ quality minutes per game AND as a mentor, who has succeeded in spite of his physical limitations. There are few players who could help Burke learn how to play point guard in the NBA AND contribute making as little as Miller will make over the next two seasons. Basically, Tinsley is a poor man's Andre Miller.

If Miller understands where he sits in relation to his age, where the Jazz are at, and his inevitable role, then I am absolutely down. I just get the feeling there's Raja Bell/Earl Watson potential here.

Dude averaged 26 minutes per game this past season and is a true pro. If you bring Miller in, you probably don't re-sign Foye, and play Miller in 2 guard sets with Burke for a handful of minutes per game. I can't imagine he'd expect to play more than 24 minutes per game, even on a mediocre team. His commitment to helping another young player learn the ropes is key though.

Don't know if it's true but Miller does have a rep of being an aloof douche - which may be why he's never sticked anywhere.
