Another Al trade

He doesn't. But, I'll let you be Sherlock and piece together what on earth I might have meant. Hint: I mentioned "stopgap" in a double sense as well as better free agents in '13.

You can do it.....

I'm sure Cleveland can do better than losing those picks to get Jefferson just as a 'stopgap' and letting him walk.

Plus if I'm Cleveland I'm not so sure I'd bank on persuading FA to go there (not decent ones anyway). That's just too risky. I've got draft picks, I don't mind tanking a few seasons, I'd rather build from the draft.

If Cleveland has Irving (who is already awesome), Thompson, and 2012 #3 all playing well, then they will have a pretty strong pull.

If you don't think so, then you can't post anything about the Jazz having free agent hopes.

Thompson - as it stands - is still a major project.

Regardless, the fact still remains, Cleveland could do better than 1 year rental of Jefferson (if you're not looking to re-sign him) for all those picks.

... for all those picks.

You may be right, but we're talking about a late first and an early second.

Remember, they have to spend 90% of the cap.... I don't see a way they can do that this summer with desirable players in positions of need. They need a financial STOPGAP.

May be I've been living with Jefferson for too long, but I would think you could throw around a few 1-year contracts, and still be better off than Jefferson... plus u can still keep those picks. Dunno.. may be Cleveland might bite as you'd said.. either way we'll have to wait & see..

That's a lot of 1-year contracts. Most players worth a contract ask for more years than 1. I guess they could overpay the hell out of 2 or 3 guys in order to get them to accept a one-year offer...

I still feel like you are missing the nuance of my point.

I understand what you're saying, and if that offer is accepted I'd be very happy from the Jazz stand point. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here in seeing how realistic it would be for Cleveland to give up those picks for 1 year of Jefferson.

See this is so dumb. I kill KOC because he hasnt traded Jefferson yet, and everyone tells me. No bluesrocker. Cant you see. It will be better to trade Al with one year left because teams will covet Al+ expiring contract. But I have been saying all along it would be better to trade Al sooner before people have more chances to see his flaws and because they would get more than a one year rent.

Now all of a sudden people are starting to realize the negative side to trying to trade him with one year. Now he has less value. 2 years would have been a better point to trade him at. Now all he is worth is crap, because he is just a 1 year rental. Nobody is going to offer up anything great for him unless they can unload a bad contract.

So get ready folks, and wake up to reality. Jefferson isnt going any where. And Sloan junior is coaching so you are going to see a lot more Jefferson next year.

So should we just have a stock response to every TRADE AL thread? We can just copy-and-paste it into every discussion. Maybe we could, then, put the message board on auto-pilot for the entire offseason?

These threads have the potential to be discussions about something other than WHAT DO YOU THINK THE JAZZ WILL DO? They are discussions responding to the question WOULD YOU CONSIDER THIS? WHY OR WHY NOT? These are separate discussions. Why let the former invade the latter every single time?

NAOS: With all due respect, I think this is an overreaction. This thread is 4 pages of discussion. Part of that discussion exampled what some feel will happen. No biggie, imo. I'm not sure it's reasonable to post a trade idea and expect there to be a moretorium, of sorts, on speaking to what some feel will actually happen in the future.

maybe the caps made it seem as if I was mad. I'm not.
Also, if my post was a message, it certainly wasn't aimed at you because you, in general, add heaps of substance to this board.
There are some people whose minds would be blown by the distinction I made. I'm just trying to help them out.
