What's new

Another premature trade thread...based on our current team, who/what could we trade Al for?

I like the Indy trade a lot

Milwaukee is another good destination.

I would like to see a Houston trade give us t jones.

Philly for iggy then Williams becomes our 3/4 back up

We're not getting Collison and a 1st for an expiring in Jefferson but yeah, I like the basics of Jefferson (and Watson?) for Collison, especially after they just extended Hill. But who could they throw in to make the salaries work?

Edit: I just saw what you wrote and which I forgot. They're gonna match for Hibbert.

Why not? They will have enough salary cap to absorb Jefferson's contract so the trade actually works and their desperate for a center.

ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein
Pacers known to be seeking C to replace Roy Hibbert if they elect not to match Blazer offer sheet.

Wow, you guys are SERIOUSLY underestimating Al. I really want to see this team go: Mo, Gordo, Marvin, Favors, Al. Bench: Tinsley/Watson, Burks/Murph, Evans, Sap, Kanter. Miles & Bell & Howard take the midnight train.

Yes everyone would love to see Milsap come off the bench except for Millsap.
It always comes back to that doesn't it?

KOC has pulled off some amazing feats, is there any chance he can put the heart, mind and soul of Milsap into Al's body? And if he did would he still insist that he is a pf?

ideally, i would want a nice bench PG who was a little more of a true point + a defensive big man who is going to be be OK being the fourth big in the rotation (so we can promote fave to starter and promote kanter to the minutes of the third big).

we're not getting dragic, and my gut is indy matches on hibbert.

Jefferson + GSW + Burks for Deng + Korver + second rounder.

Underestimating Al? So, the question is, who starts? Al or Paul? Let's look at the two players:

Better passer: Millsap
Better shooter: Millsap
Better rebounder: Millsap
Better at running the offense: Millsap
Better athlete: Millsap
Better shotblocker: Millsap
Elite "steals" guy: Millsap
Clutch at the end of games: Millsap

Better at holding the ball with one guy guarding him, waiting until three to four guys are guarding him, not passing out of the double to quadruple team, waiting until the shot clock gets down to 3, then putting up that damn "wheezy" shot: Al

Yeah, we are underestimating Al..........

He is our third best big. He should come off the bench. He has one very good NBA skill. Guys with one very good NBA skills are bench guys.

al has a more complete low post game, and that's it. paul is superior in every other way, and even al's low post game doesn't open things up for the team the way, say, boozer's low post game did because boozer didn't have blinders on when he had the ball down low.

True.
We take a step back offensively becuase neither Favors nor Kanter are reliable scorers. But maybe given the opportunity, both can develop. And I like Millsap because of iselite mid-range game. Subtract Big Al and we still have a good inside-out combo when pairing Paul with Favors or Kanter. Add to that improved outside shooting with Mo and Marvin and the Jazz are suddenly multi-dimensional. You can't cheat or someone will be open who can actually hit a shot.

Millsap's not better at everything. Al's a better defensive rebounder, shot blocker, and man defender. He also draws double teams, which Millsap doesn't. Passing might come more naturally to Millsap, but he only averages .1 more assists per game than Al. Al improved his passing this year, and he owns Millsap in AST/TO ratio. You guys aren't being very fair to Al.

I can see where you could debate that Al is a better defensive rebounder and shot blocker, but how can you seriously think he is a better man defender. Put the Jazz flavored Kool-Aide down young man.

If anything the trade for Marvin is probably a sign we aren't trading Jefferson. We have all the wings we need and we have 3 PG's.

Our roster is

Mo, Earl, Jamall
Hayward, Burks, Murphy
Marvin, Carroll
Favors, Millsap, Evans
Jefferson, Kanter

That's 13 players, 1 has to be on the inactive roster (probably Murphy). I could us adding an additional big man, but that is the only move I could see happening.
