Anti vaxxer mom asks for advised how to protect kid from measles...responses are hilarious!

It would be funnier except for all the children who can't be vaccinated, or for whom the measles vaccine doesn't take, being put at risk.

Do you know what percentage of children can't be vaccinated for medical reasons?

https://www.cnn.com/2015/02/03/health/the-unvaccinated/index.html

The CDC reports:
• In California, there were about 1,000 medical exemptions in the 2013-2014 school year, and more than 17,000 philosophical exemptions.
• Florida had less than 800 medical exemptions and about 4,000 religious exemptions. Florida does not allow philosophical exemptions.
• Mississippi and West Virginia do not allow religious or philosophical exemptions, and they reported only about 50 medical exemptions combined.

In addition, MMR is not given to children under 1 year of age (so all infants), and has a failure rate of just over 1% of those vaccinated (another 77,000 or so).

So pretty much standard numbers similar to any other vaccine.

Some vaccines have a failure rate as high as 10%, but the diseases tend to be less infectious as well (I don't know if that is related or not).

If it was up to me, if you opt not to vaccinate your children, and then they catch a preventable disease, then you should be charged with child endangerment.

I don't like the mentality that it's okay to make that decision for your own children, but you shouldn't endanger other people's.

Is vaccination for basic and well known diseases-viruses free (or cheap) for children in USA? In Estonia for example norovirus vaccine is not free, but the major ones are.

Our insurance policies cover them. I’m not positive, but I think even for the uninsured, they’re pretty cheap.

They are free at most clinics. My son gets his daughter vaccinated at a state run clinic and it's free.

Yeah the anti vaxxer ******** is one of the worst movements there is. Talk about monumentally clueless. They are nearly as idiotic as anyone who believes or buys anything from Gwyneth Paltrow, who is literally the least self aware and person most disconnected from reality in the history of the world.

yeah man, I struggle with getting the Hep A and B vaccines to take.

If you were to pay cost, it's a little over $100/injection for most vaccines. However, between Medicaid and special programs for uninsured kids, very few parents have to pay for them directly, and most because they choose to not be insured.

Why do we even allow religious or philosophical exemptions? That doesn’t seem right to me. Putting society at risk of severe harm or death isn’t a right. At some point in our country knowledge and expertise need to matter more than stubborn stupidity.
